Traditional puppet theatres showcase Sicilian marionette artistry in atmospheric spaces that transport you straight into local culture. Walking is your best bet through the honey-colored limestone buildings and cobblestone streets too narrow for cars. Small family-run guesthouses and converted palazzos offer authentic stays with local charm. I've stayed in a lot of old and run down little hotels across Sicily as I like to avoid big chains. And they've been fine, but this was a significant step up in being modern and up to date. The room was stylish and comfortable, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Breakfast was tasty with a good variety. My best accommodation of the trip, highly recommend.

Friendly and helpful staff.
Beautiful and unique property, staff very friendly and helpful with anything we needed and tips for things around us, our room was gorgeous. They are renovating the building across from us but it was only noisy during the day, and didn’t bother us at all as we were out and about a lot.

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Palermo
Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Palermo is during January, February, and November, when hotel prices are lower. For a budget-friendly trip that allows you to fully appreciate the city's rich history, culture, and landmarks, a stay of at least 3 days is recommended. This duration will enable you to explore significant sites such as the stunning cathedrals, historical monuments, charming cafes, and fascinating museums. Additionally, you may enjoy sightseeing tours that highlight Palermo's vibrant cultural scene, ensuring you receive great value for money during your visit.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals on accommodation in Palermo, visit the Deals or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. Enabling email alerts or push notifications can keep you informed about flash sales and exclusive promotions, helping you seize opportunities to save. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're better informed. If prices drop or rooms become available, you could be among the first to know, making it easier to book that perfect getaway.
Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your stay at a hotel in Palermo. For those seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised touch and may offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that are likely to be more affordable, helping you secure the best deal.
Consider your location: Hotels located near the city centre generally tend to be more expensive; however, with Palermo's excellent public transport links, you may find a more affordable independent hotel situated further out that remains well connected. For those wishing to discover alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations might provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
