Pros: A welcome oasis in a busy trek through Italy. We were in a spacious room with a soft king bed. The room was nicely and tastefully furnished as was the bathroom. The staff was most welcoming and helpful. The location is away from the noise and congestion of the center of Florence but merely a block from the heart of it all. The breakfast room was also very nice and the food good, Cons: The only cons were very minor ones. First the water pressure is not great but you can get by. Secondly, accessing the hotel requires a 15 step or so climb to a lift that ten takes you on to the lobby. Of you don’t use the lift, it’s another 26 steps. Conclusion: The Davazati is worth the climb! Nicest hotel we stayed in during our trip to Italy. I would not hesitate to recommend it. Kudos to the ownership and staff for this gem.

I absolutely loved the hotel. The staff were so hospitable and helpful. They were great with suggestions, and I love that the hotel emails you as soon as you book to ask your preferences and to offer guidance on attractions and tours in advance. I ended up booking the “Best of Chianti” day tour that they recommended, and I loved it! I also appreciate the free breakfast, free afternoon coffee break, and free evening aperitivo. And the location is fantastic and central. I only have two complaints, which is what kept me from a 5-star rating: 1) I would have liked more surface space in my room to organize my toiletries and other belongings. And 2) It was extremely difficult to sleep on the second night of my stay due to the crazy noise on the street in front of the hotel late through the night/into the early morning. There were hordes of young people for several hours who were screaming and carrying on, like they were out clubbing. I realize that some of this is to be expected, given the central location of the hotel. But I think that the hotel could probably do something to improve the sound-proofing, cause whatever they have is not nearly enough on a noisy night. That being said, I would happily stay here again on a future trip to Florence! I definitely recommend them!

Modern family hotel
Great location...about 10 minutes from the train station and a stone throw away from the main attractions. The hotel is modern and the staff are SUPER friendly and helpful. Very clean. We took note of some reviewers complaints about the steps, but could not see how they were an issue. There were only around 25 steps to what? The complainers should visit the Spanish Steps in Rome. If you have heavy luggage, if you're lazy, overweight, or have some kind of disability, just press the buzzer at the entrance the stuff would come to assist. Whenever we visit Florence again, we're staying here. The only kind of issue we had was that the walls were thin in the room that we were in. You could hear every time the toilet was flush quietly loudly...but we were hardly in our room so no big deal.

Cozy, courteous and caring in the city's art heart
This hotel is an excellent choice for persons interested in visiting the many palaces, museums and architecture of central Florence. It is noted as having a few steps to the reception area, but this was not inconvenient, in my opinion, at all, and they led to a modern elevator which I used to go the last bit to the reception level. The level of service here is very personable and professiona. The family atmosphere is also extremely engaging and heartening. I can't say enough good about these people, they are the best, and their services are the best. Florence is an ancient city, and the buildings in the central city, and streets are ancient too in many respects, but the modernizing of this hotel interior seems seamless and very pleasant. Breakfast, which I thought would be continental, was, instead, full breakfast. Tea in the afternoon with cakes and prosecco pre-dinner reception ('happy hour') found me also meeting new and interesting travelers, as well as sharing news, notes and life's events with the sweet staff.

Bring bug spray
Initially, the staff and room were great, but it's what happened after our stay. We experienced a number of bug bites and assumed it was just mosquitoes. We went to the local doctor to get medication, as the itch was unbearable. The doctor mentioned that the straight bite patterns were not from mosquitoes, but rather BED BUGS. We emailed the staff, as we didn't want to leave a negative review from the great service, but also wanted the doctor's visit fee reimbursed. We received an email accusing us of blackmailing, but equally confusing was asking how much the cost was to be reimbursed. We refused the offer and rather would share our experience. Book with caution and recommend bringing a bee suit to sleep in.
