Good enough
We stayed 8 nights on the 15th floor; 3 adults and a toddler in a double room. Hotel: 4 stars Pros: close to everything - shops, restaurants, trolley/bus stops, and the beach! Amenities were good - pool, gym, bar/cafe, concierge, public coin-op laundromat nearby (expensive). Cons: it's a little old and dated, express elevator was out of service for a bit, parking is expensive, construction in adjacent restaurant below. Staff: 5 stars The bell hops were the first point of contact, very helpful, and super friendly. The front desk reps made our check-in and out experience quick and easy. Our housekeeper was friendly and cleaned our rooms when requested. Room: 3 stars Good for just resting between activities and sleeping but not great for hanging out in the room. Pro: mini fridge, balcony, large TV, CLEAN, toiletries, two closets. Con: Air condition was ok to cool room but only kept the farther side of the room cool (one bed) at night but did not reach the closer side/bed which was warm and uncomfortable in the middle of the night. Beds are on firmer side and pillows lost shape throughout the night which made the 5-8th night of our trip uncomfortable. The cable guide was off by 4 hours; complimentary wifi was terrible; and outlets were loose so make sure to check items being charged. Although the room needs improvement, overall the location and friendliness of the staff made up for it. We would recommend it and possibly stay in the future if the price was right

The night crew was very friendly and accommodating. We had a 1 night stay over and had never been to Hawaii before. We wanted to make the most of our time. Our flight the next day was at 8:45PM so we had the whole day to explore and experience Honolulu. We needed a late checkout or some type of accommodation for this once in a lifetime experience. We were told by the night crew that we had to check in the morning with the manager for availability. The next morning at 8am I inquired at the front desk if there was any way they could help us...a late check out, an hourly rate...anything. The woman at the desk could not have mustered a simple smile when she asked what I wanted. She was cold and abrupt and obviously has never been interested in customer service. I began to ask for a late checkout and she immediately cut me off and said "No availability. You have to leave by noon." I couldn't even tell her our situation. She wanted me out and was not interested in helping me at all. No "I'm sorry and I wish I could help". Just "NO". We ended up going down the street to the Aqua Surf hotel. They were more than helpful in everyway to make sure we had a great experience in their city.

Conviniently located
Centrally located, close to supermarket, shopping centers, bus stop and just short walk to the beach. We had a bad experience though upon checking in. The customer service attendant told us our name doesn't come up in the booking list. We showed our booking confirmation via Expedia so she can double check. But she said she has checked all the details and we are not booked so we need to contact Expedia to check with them what happened to our booking. We have an infant who just came from a 10hour flight and they didn't even offer to contact Expedia themselves. Good thing we are on roaming so we contacted Expedia ourselves. It turned out that they have moved or booking to a different date as we have initially requested which we cancelled all via Expedia. Although the mix up is not the hotels fault, I just feel that as part of their customer service they should have at least exerted extra effort to check what happened to our booking. After all, they do business with Expedia and we have a booking confirmation as a proof and a charge to my credit card. But they left it all in our care to contact Expedia and find out. I'll probably be cool with that if it's only me and my husband but they saw us with an infant who is already whinging! Terrible customer service! Our bad experience though is with just one attendant, the rest of the staff (bell service, room service and other front Desk staff are accomodating).

Older Hotel Close to Waikiki
I was told by this Hotel that if you book through Expedia you should expect to stay near an elevator or in a room without a balcony. I told them that I saw no such rental restriction in the Expedia booking, however, they were quite adamant that this was there policy and that Expedia should have relayed this information to me. I agreed to upgrade my room away from the service elevator because I had jet lag and was disturbed by the cleaning carts being brought into position in the middle of the night, along with the regular traffic by the elevator. I agreed to pay extra money to upgrade the room. My wife and I left for the day to sightsee and upon our return were told that our luggage was supposed to be moved to our new room. We checked into the new room and the luggage was gone, after a short period of searching it was determined that the hotel had mistakenly put our luggage on the VIP shuttle going to the airport and that driver had left it there unattended. It was then confiscated by airport security and I had to go there to pick it up. This killed hours of our vacation and included much unnecessary stress. The Hotel compensated us for the inconvenience, however we would have preferred to have avoided this experience and paid a fair rate for a competent service. The rooms were a bit dated and could use an upgrade, the parking facility did not appear to have an elevator as well. If I ever go to Oahu again I will stay somewhere else.

nice hotel in great area of Waikiki
In 2016 I stayed at the Ohana East and was given a room with a kitchen and a view when I arrived. I was so happy for the upgrade ! Unfortunately this year when I returned with my husband, I apparently requested an economy room and was given a room right next to a service elevator and regular elevator with a balcony view of the parking lot. When I went down to request another room so as not to hear the elevator all night long. the only thing they could offer was a smaller room without a balcony. I did take it but I have to say for two people it wasn't the most comfortable. Bed was pushed against the wall, not easy to get into, the shower took about 10 -15 minutes before you got any hot water. It was clean, and quiet though. It was hard to make my husband believe how great it was the first year. Since we had a red eye flight out, I requested a late check out a few days before we were to leave , but was told the hotel was sold out that weekend and that would not be possible. They did however hold our luggage and offer us a room for 45 minutes to take a shower and freshen up before we left for the airport. I really appreciated that! Cleaning staff did a great job. Coffee shop down stairs was out of fruit for assai bowl. So to sum it up the Osana East is located in a great spot, easy to walk to the beach, or any direction to shop. I did not feel un easy about walking around by myself at any time of day or night. Employees were friendly just wished we had a better room!
