A Not So Nice Experience...
I consider myself a easy guess during most of my hotel stays. But I really need to give my feedback on my "unfortunate stay" for this one. On my first night of arrival, the bath robe wasnt clean so I left it in the basket. But the next day, despite hanging the do not disturb sign on the door, the housekeeping came when we were out and hanged the robe back up without changing for a fresh one. We hanged the do not disturb sign for 2 days and we gave up coz housekeeping still came in. It was on the 3rd day I found out they dont changed our used towels. I found out becoz my makeup stained on one and that evening I found that they rolled up and put them back on the rack like new one. On checked out, I asked the reception if I could get a refund for my transport card at the airport, she replied "You can take the train to the airport". ?? When I requested for the staff to flag down a cab for me to get to the airport, he told me to walk out to the street to flag it myself. Sigh.

Disappointed with service at check in
Overall stay is good but I am curious to know why it takes so long to check in and out. On arrival I was asked to take a seat and wait as there were 2 people in line and they specifically kept telling me to sit down and they would call me when the counter was free. I waited and waited and waited and was getting annoyed because no one called me and I could obviously see that at least 2 other people lined up which meant I would always be waiting. NO ONE called me so I gave up and joined the queue. Absolutely rediculous idea! Wasted 30mins of my time and I had a meeting to prepare for. The lights wouldn’t switch off as the switch was not working so I had to sleep with the lights on which is very difficult. Air conditioning didn’t work so it felt suffocating during the night. I did not feel rested at all for my business meetings.

Exceptional 10.0
Great hotel / staff, close to subway & restaurants
Five - ten minute walk from subway at Beixinqiao (line 5). Hotel is modern. Staff are friendly and professional. Only issues were (1) walls are a little thin (2) there were some issues with lack if English amongst some staff. Mainly the restaurant / room service staff so not a major issue. Lots of bars, restaurants etc. nearby (within 10 minute walks to various streets with lots of these). Hotel is close to Beijing Bell Tower (20 minute walk), Lama Temple and Confuscious Temple (both about 15 minute walks). Concierge us really helpful and friendly guy. Duty Manager I met cared about his hotel and guests. Young lady on duty at front entrance is delightful, welcoming and helpful. Hotel us about 40 minute walk to Wangfujing shopping street. And similar distance to back if Forbidden City .

You get a lot for your money here. Its an excellent location about a block from the subway(the subway system is very easy to navigate). The room was clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and work hard to accommodate your needs. It seemed most staff members spoke a little English and there was usually one staff member that was fluent in English (which I think is above and beyond given you are in China and not the USA). I booked a tour of the great wall through the concierge and thought it was great with pick up and drop off at the front door for a reasonable price. I did not eat at the hotel restaurant as it seemed very expensive so I chose to walk down the street or hop on the subway and check out another neighborhood.

Hot and stuffy rooms spoils a great location
Room was not ready eventhough check in time was stipulated at 2 pm and I arrived at 3.30 pm. Was given a small, stuffy and hot room. Small is fine but stuffy and hot meant no sleep. Was provided with a fan that circulated the hot air around. Opening window to the limited crack also did not help. Was provided with a cooler and slightly larger room the next day although the fan was still necessary. The air conditioner is still switched onto cooling despite it being warm and cooling does not come on until end of may! So avoid unless in winter or after May when the cooling is on.
