Upon arrival we had no AC, called for service and we were advised that they we repairing a unit and would be fixed next day. They gave us a floor fan. Next day still no AC. Asked to be moved to a different room we were advised nothing was available, they would send the engineer. Engineer came and said it’s working fine, nothing was wrong it was never broken. Room was never lower then 24C. The entire week was the same. We talked to neighboring rooms and other vacationers they were advising that their rooms were so cold they had to open the patio doors to warm up the rooms. Food was ok, same in the restaurants for entire week. Service on beach was below expectations- very seldom had beer and regular coke cola available.

Horrible services when you want to eat
Worst place to stay , the resort literally looks like they are ripping the customers off. Their services are so biased in terms of whom they are serving. Housekeeping is really pathetic in regards to the timing. The welcoming are so horrible just because “your not white” , I parked my car infront of the lobby to take my luggage out, and I was rudely asked move your car while “white people” came and did the same and it was not even asked but the staff welcomed them , opened there car and luggage to the lobby . And I literally said don’t worry I’ll park my car as it was already far away to go down the hill and park the car and then wait for a transportation or walk back on foot . This doesn’t make sense at all as why the parking is so far away from the hotel like the foods are soo expensive so why will people even dine in , obviously they all going out the resort to eat and come back to stay. Don’t fall for the saying “ children eat for free” such a scam , I got charged for it and when I inquired on why is there a double charge on it , I was left with no answers and said you can talk to them when you check out . Like what the hell , if children can’t eat free please put what they can eat free and tell nicely rather than when it’s paying bill time suddenly there’s a thousand bills added . Funny how bias the check in / out is and what kind rooms was given but when it came to billing , a 3% surcharge oh because your not local like seriously? Where was the all the hospitality ??

Immaculately clean and well maintained
Had an amazing 4 night stay at Shangrila. The room was clean, staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast buffet had excellent options. Plenty to do at the resort. Definitely staying here when I come back to Fiji.

The service from staff was excellent, the food was great, but on the downside, there were insufficient information about what was included or it was misleading. Expedia put the responsibility about this on the Hotel and the Hotel did the same putting the responsibility on Expedia. Also, is kind of disappointing that the full board option (or credit included in dollars) does not cover any beverages. This means paying overpriced meals and being unable to used the remaining credits because you don't have enough options on how to spend it, and if you want to drink anything besides water you are being charged by separate. At the end, having "FJD 115 per day" besides breakfast is a misleading marketing strategy because average consumption is always below that, even having drinks, but one have to pay for them by separate which is absurd.

So, the positives. What’s not to like about the beautiful beaches and warm sunshine in Fiji? The resort looks lovely, it’s clean and the rooms are great. The staff in general are hard working, warm and friendly and often go above and beyond. Opposing that is the more corporate side of the resort. You’re pretty much reliant on the resort for everything and the feeling is they take advantage of that to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. The restaurants look fancy and have tempting menus but the food is disappointing. There’s no where to wash clothes so you have to use the expensive laundry service. Communication isn’t great, I had to rely on hearing from other guests what I needed to know. Reception also left much to be desired. All requests I made were never fulfilled with no explanation. For example the day before checkout I asked for a porter to help with the luggage the next morning. The receptionist wrote down the time but no one came to me or members of my party in other rooms. To sum up. Shangrila rely on the Fijian workers to make your holiday and they do, in abundance. The business side is very present and leaves much to be desired.

Take the Reef Wing upgrade!
Worth the upgrade to the Adults-only Reef Wing. Staff were all so lovely and always happy to help. Had a few issues using the Mobile Checkin on the app, which caused quite a bit of confusion. Once that was resolved, it was a good stay.
