First, the pros: the location, on Canal St. is very central. It's right by the trollies and taxis are always floating around. Shops and dining and places for schlocky souvenirs are all within a few blocks. The apartment was spotlessly clean, just like in the photos, and had plenty of space with a huge bathroom, washing machine, full kitchen, big closets, and large TV in the living room. Plus, the price was great. If you need to get two hotel rooms, you save big bucks with a two bedroom apartment.
Now the cons: again, it's the location. Yes, it's ultra convenient, but the immediate area is crawling with drunk or drugged out derelicts. And I mean that literally. None of them ever bothered us or acted aggressive/threatening, but they were ever-present, regardless of the time of day. The building is not a "hotel", and there isn't any lobby or amenities (a pool, etc). Just a door in-between a chicken joint and a beer store, like a speakeasy (Sonder will email you the entry code). There's no front desk and the check in time is a firm 4PM (unless you want to pay extra $). We arrived early and waited in a nearby Starbucks with all of our suitcases for 2 hours because there isn't a front desk that could watch our bags. Also, be careful in the entranceway. They use some kind of soap on the tile floor that's extremely slippery. A lawsuit waiting to happen.
In the end, would I stay here again? Probably, if my flight arrived late enough. You can't beat the convenience or the price.
