The hotel’s location is excellent, very central, yet on a quieter street away from the busiest crowds. The building has a lot of charm and retains much of its original character, with decent upkeep. Breakfast was adequate but fairly basic. It does the job if you want something quick before heading out, with clean, simple options and a reasonable selection of protein, but it’s not a highlight compared to the many great breakfast spots in Florence. The biggest drawback was the hotel’s key policy. Guests must leave both their room key and the AC card at reception every time they leave the hotel. This means returning to a very warm room after a day of sightseeing. More importantly, this policy was not mentioned before or during booking, it was only explained at check-in, leaving no opportunity to choose another hotel if it was a concern. When I asked why the policy existed and why it hadn’t been communicated in advance, I was only told that it had “always been the rule,” without any further explanation. The hotel has a 24-hour reception, and access after ringing the bell was generally quick. Most reception staff were friendly and welcoming, although a few of the more experienced staff members came across as rather reserved and less inclined to engage with guests.

I chose this hotel based on its proximity to some of the landmarks in Firenze. There are many shops and restaurants near the hotel and everything in Firenze is walkable from here. The hotel is very nice and we enjoyed the breakfast, specially the different and fresh pastries every day.
