8/10 Very Good
Feb 2, 2025
Decent stay but not as luxurious as advertised.
Stayed for 1 night in a Junior Suite to celebrate my partner’s birthday.
Pros:
Modernised bathroom had a claw foot tub and a walk in shower, they even provided bath salts!
The sauna, steam, aroma, and ice room were free for guests.
Pool was at a comfortable temperature.
There is a locker room for changing and rinsing off (bring a pound coin to use a locker).
Junior suite was roomy and bed was comfortable.
Staff were lovely, no complaints.
Grounds were beautiful though we didn’t really get to explore
Cons:
Hot Tub was out of order - when reading other reviews it looked like the hot tub was out of order for other guests before us so not sure how long it has been/will be out of order.
The Aroma room did not smell very nice and looked and smelled like it needed a bit of a scrub.
I opened the window in the bathroom and there were dead flies crusted on the frame which means it hadn’t been cleaned or even looked at in awhile.
The food at the bar was really expensive for what you receive, £14 for a pastrami sub (on the lunch menu) that was actually a very thin panini, came with a side salad which was fresh well dressed, but the sandwich was an absolute let-down (see photo). The hotel's restaurant requires pre-booking so prepare for where to eat before you go.
The smart TV’s ‘smart’ features don’t quite work.
While the bathroom was beautiful and modern, the room could have used some sprucing.
Would I recommend to a friend: Yes, with some caveats.
