Room was quaint as it's a heritage listing. Was not impressed with buffet breakfast on our 1st morning. The hash browns, tomatoes, bacon were cold & the scrambled eggs were just warm. Not much choice of fruits or yoghurts.
2nd morning breakfast things were a fraction warmer but chose poached eggs which had eggshell in it.
Also the diinners served in the bar area were also average

After three years of going to the Mercure 3-5 times a year I finally met a grouchy desk person. Who didnt understand I couldnt get your new onlne site to work so I used expedia. This ruffled her feathers. So they gave me the kingbed Rm 410 with the heate system kicking on every hour. I lost my card for 2024 or never got it and I was promoted to Gold when booking into Accor's Surfers Hotel 4 weeks before.
After 18 years (with a short divorce break) of staying in ACCOR Hotels across NSW ACT and Qld I had a person question my Gold membership. Yet when I stayed at the Fairmont in Katoomba, Serena at the desk downloaded the APP for ACCor on My phone. Showing my Gold Status. I was humbly perplexed by the receptionist at Mercure Canberra. Oh well bad day, I guess. Walter

We had breakfast included with our stay which was enjoyable. We have stayed here before and didn’t mind it as a base for exploring around Canberra.

Loft rooms highly recommended
Loft rooms are marvellous. Spacious, clean, warm, comfortable. Beds are extremely comfortable and bathrooms have a bathtub. Worth the extra. My go-to when staying in CBR

The property was well placed, close to the Canberra Plaza and the War Memorial. The hotel could do with an upgrade; however the room was clean, the bed comfy. I would stay there again.

Comfortable room and bed for an overnight stay.
It was a very cold night and as a result the bathroom was very chilly. There was no bathroom heating.

Beautiful heritage property but a bit of a maze
The TV in our room didn't work (reported to reception on checking out - didn't realise it wasn't working until 9pm). Trying to find our room from the secure carpark, even with map in hand, was a challenge. We were only there one night but our room was upstairs in an area without lift access. If it was a longer stay it wouldn't bother me, but dragging bags up one afternoon and back down the next morning isn't a great experience. Breakfast was included in our stay but the breakfast room was very crowded.
