Relaxing 2 night stay
Two night stay in room 5. Hotel very clean throughout. Friendly staff. Superb breakfasts, wide choice, large portions & excellent quality. Great for walkers, lots of maps and walking guides. Comfortable bed, powerful shower. Only downside was our room was very small.

Fantastic location!
We stayed for 2 nights mid week in October. We had a patio room (my partner smokes) which was a good size with king sized bed & pull out sofa bed. Huge, modern bathroom with separate shower and extra deep bath. Kettle and coffee maker provided with plenty milk, variety of tea/coffee sachets and even a small fridge within the wardrobe. Iron, hairdryer, slippers, soap/shower gel etc all provided. No issue with plug sockets, there are plenty and the room was very clean with daily housekeeping if required. Breakfast was brilliant - lovely fresh fruit selection for the continental and cooked breakfast made to order, very swift service despite being quite busy. There is an outside seating area with heaters to the front of the hotel. Location is perfect, we didn't used the car at all during our stay. The town centre is literally 5 mins walk away and offers plenty of variety in eateries though best book ahead for an evening meal to secure a table. The only thing we didn't get on with was the pillows - there were plenty of them but but we just couldn't find the right combo so if we visited again, we would take our own.

6/10 Good

Nice breakfast but had to wait until 9:50 for allocated slot in dining room. Switched us, no problem from room 1 which is the first and worst room location wise up the stairs and facing a wall to room 6 above which felt a little better and open looking at a rooftop and trees. Both at rear of hotel, no view. Room clean, great pillows. Very small room for the money and we kept banging the bathroom door every time it was opened on a beam! Needs better padding.

Hotel building is unremarkable. View from the front is excellent. Unfortunate that when the hotel was nearly empty we got a room that looked out on a blank wall. Breakfast was very good indeed. Real kippers from a smokery. Buttermilk pancakes with syrup.

I told the manager before leaving that I have stayed in so mamy 5 star hotels in my life but I was pleasently surprised the excellent customer service in this hotel. Amazing morning breakfast for free... Free milk to make tea.. Clean n tidy room and free parking... What else do you need? Would consider coming back because of their customer service. Excellent staff
