Quick stay near cruise port
This hotel is very close to the cruise port. You can tell that most travelers use it before or after going on a cruise. There is some construction going on so we were worried about the dust and paint smell. Fortunately, about an hour after checkin the smell was gone and we were fine the entire stay. We weren't huge fans of the breakfast and it is most likely regional (the types of food in preferred in Florida versus other locations with Hampton Inn). Of note, the shuttle service charges per person to drop off at the cruise port. Much cheaper to ride share (Lyft, Uber) to the cruise port.

Wait to go
The room was very spacious and nice, the biggest issue is that they are remodeling and the smell of paint thinner or lacquer was very strong even though it was on the floor below us. We asked for another room higher and was told that there was nothing available. we had to spend most of the time out of the room. The arrangement for shuttles was nice but disorganized and crowded.

Renovation is not an excuse for this
We stayed the night before our 50th anniversary cruise (1/3/20). Pickup from airport was fine. Shuttle driver was very friendly and explained a lot on the way. Lobby is being renovated, which we were not made aware of, except by the driver. We were assigned room 309, next to the elevator. When we entered we noticed an odor, but it was not overpowering so I said nothing thinking it was probably insect spray. When we returned after lunch we were greeted by a much stronger acrid odor (smelled like carpet glue) when we opened the door. Because we were tired from the flight we tried to take a nap in hopes the odor would subside. I fell asleep after covering my face with a towel. My wife awakened me about ½ hour later because the fumes were even worse and her throat and eyes were burning, as were mine. I called the front desk and was told it could not possibly be carpet glue and the manager needed to call me back. The manager never called back. I explained to the front desk that it smelled like carpet adhesive and was told "It could not be carpet adhesive.” OK, maybe not, but our eyes were stinging, and we were both wheezing (I have asthma). We located a helpful maintenance man (Franklin) who immediately smelled the odor upon entering the room. He explained the fumes were being pushed upstairs by the elevator and called for a room change and even helped us move (thank you Franklin). By then we were both wheezing and coughing. Hopefully, neither of us suffered respirato

Under renovation
Booked way in advance before renovation started, our rooms were done although bathroom door was squeaking loudly which woke everyone in the night (something I think housekeeping could of reported and put WD40 on). Precruise stay, was picked up at airport and booked w/them to go to cruiseport, had 3 times to choose from, great service. Would have rated higher if the food wasn't set up in the makeshift lobby with people checking in and out in the way, had to take to room or eat by pool. Recommend walking across the street (behind Outback) and eat supper at Padrino's Cuban, excellent food. Once renovation done, hotel is great, would stay again due to location.

Comfortable rooms, but horrible customer service
I had a wonderful experience while checking in and decided to extend my stay. I requested a late check out and was told that would be be set up for 1pm. As that’s what I had for my previous stay. That morning I was called to my room at about 9am and told I would “have to leave” at 11am, since they made arrangements for their housekeeping staff to leave early for Thanksgiving. I spoke with the “acting” manager Michael and was told the same. I asked for corporate’s number and was informed to call the hotel’s number and request to be transferred to her extension. Once I called I was hung up on a total of three times. Called again and the call wasn’t even picked up. Needless to say, this completely ruined our Thanksgiving holiday. This should never happen to anyone again. I called Hilton Honors and gave the details of this incident.
