HistoryMiami Museum takes visitors on a fascinating journey of South Florida with exciting exhibitions and experiences. Situated in the Miami-Dade Cultural Plaza in downtown Miami, the 70,000 square foot facility is a Smithsonian affiliate and the largest museum of history in Florida. It features four galleries, Archives and Research Center, and a city tours program.
The museum, which began as the Historical Museum of Southern Florida in 1940, offers much to see, from silver and gold recovered from centuries-old shipwrecks to Pan American World Airways artifacts. At its Center for Photography, there are vivid images that capture the heart of the community.
