At Walnut Beach Park, Lake Erie stretches to the horizon while families picnic on golden sand. The Maritime Museum reveals tales of shipwrecks and rum-runners that once plied these waters. History buffs can explore the city's proud role in the Underground Railroad, when freedom seekers found passage to Canada across the lake.
