Cheap yes…but just an odd, disturbing place.
Cheap yes…but just an old, odd, out of the way, disturbing place...good for one night only if you're dead tired, blind drunk, or just appeared on America’s Most Wanted. No one spoke English and no in-room safe as site alluded to. Because you're not allowed a key, returning after-hours or bringing a guest requires scuttling past a barrage of non-English speaking browbeaters through a 3 ft-wide lobby. You can further impress your guests with a turn-of-the-century, dimly lit, subdued, dingy, no-window, 85 sq ft action pad...complete with primordial furniture & paper-thin bed cover to include, at no extra charge, long curly human hairs adhered to the sleep sheet—it may be wise to sleep in street clothes with towel wrapped over pillow case. If you have morning engagements but still want their free breakfast, cancel them or plan an hour extra as you witness Panama’s indigenous tree sloth serve you. The infant-sized free breakfast choice consist of either 3 pancakes and 1 cup coffee, scrambled eggs and 1 cup coffee, fruit and 1 cup coffee. Combining choices voids free breakfast option; if you want an extra cup of coffee add 20 minutes to your schedule. Despite worldly travelers and having 4 days reservation left we couldn't take the creep anymore and upgraded to a 5-star hotel (Expedia offered) for only $32 more, at ideal location; best decision of the trip. Spend the extra coin and stay away traveler, there’s too many fine hotels available at just a fraction of US cost; plu

Poor 2.0
Poor standard across the board
There is no value to to be had in this hotel. Rude staff, poor constuction, AC was ancient, loud and burning elecricity for nothing, toilets running and leaking, and this is in all 3 of the rooms we switched, just passed off to the next in order. Nasty, thread bare tows and bedding. The other guests were (permitted) so unruly and noise yelling throughout the night, my first fist fight In years! All in the middle of the night, (3 on 1 not a problem here eh boys!) and the reataurant, falls right in the mix. I travel enough to leave decent reviews in any form, this one will never see me or my referal, police in the parking lot out back, why? My wife and I were disgusted and didnt even check out. Hope the **IPAT** gets ahold of this place quickly, I will ensure this goes to them asap. We want the best for Panama including its economy hotels, this is on the edge of criminal violations with some rooms having no window or escape, basicly locked inside if you werent strong enough to kick the door down or open the broken deadbolt. We need help here, like fast. Put this place out of biz quickly!!!

Poor 2.0
We don't usually give a bad review because there is always something positive to say about a hotel but not at Hotel Montreal. At check in the staff seemed to be asleep. The room smelled pretty bad but since we paid for the room ahead of time, nothing we could do about it. No hot water, not even warm water. The two days we spent in the room we saw 4 cock roaches. The sheets had stains on them and the pillows were thrown together as if they used clothing for the stuffing. The mattresses were old and sunken. The free breakfast was ok, however we did get a dirty glass. In the room we found a massive hole in the floor. the walls were all marked up, phone did not work. The only positive about the place was the internet worked well but on the morning we left there was no Internet for the last 2 hours.

You get what you pay for.
Much like another review recently submitted; this hotel is centrally located but it is definitely a budget keen option. It is not high end. The light fixtures throughout my room were shattered and don't provide much light anyway. Also, I was on the first floor at the front of the building and had to deal with a massive amount of road noise day and night. My last night there was extra special as the construction on Via Espana went throughout the night. The hotel restaurant is passable but I'd suggest dining at Tinijas (reasonably priced) or at the Bristol hotel (high end dining) a few blocks away. Both of those options are top notch. I will probably stay elsewhere next time I visit Panama.

Literally Unsafe Dump
Literally room is no more than 5feet x 5 feet. Hardly any parking place. There were people idlying from the street in the lobby area. This place is unsafe, literally unsafe for anyone and not worth not even $2. Overall, the photos are deceiving anddo not match the reality of the dump room.
