Hello - I stayed at the Alessandro Downtown Hostel
Rome, Rome (province), Italy from Wed, Sep 18 - Sun, Sep 22. During my stay I was bitten by bed bugs. My hand was extremely swollen with the first bite. I communicated this to the staff and they noted they didn't find anything upon investigation. The staff who reviewed my bed area did mention he was not a professional with bed bugs and wasn't certain about what to look for. The staff at the front desk admitted they've had an issue with bed bugs. Sun 9/22 I talked to the 2 front desk staffs (Michael and other man) extensively about the issue and they also called the Manager named Ovens. Ovens wasn't willing to do anything else about the issue except change the room and laundry. That night, I received another bite. On Monday morning, I found a bed bug on my clothing and I have photo and video footage of it. It is outrageous that the hotel refused to do anything about this issue and that it appears to be recurring based on feedback online. Expedia should be aware of this as this is a serious health issue that is going unattended by the hostel and is putting people's lives and wellness at risk. I paid for a place to stay and had certain expectations. I did not pay to risk my health and potentially have additional medical expenses.
