We stayed here when we had a rental car and wanted to explore the Basque area of Spain. We did day trips to Bilbao, San Sebastián and Pamplona. The Parador is in a beautiful setting and the room was very comfortable. We did all our eating and shopping during our day trips so the Parador was a quiet, country setting to relax. We did eat breakfast at the Parador but no other meals. Breakfast was good - very typical Spanish style hotel breakfast.

Stopped here on our way from Galicia back to the Channel Tunnel. We have stayed in Paradors before and they are usually comfortable and interesting buildings. The Parador de Argomaniz is particularly noted for its Basque cuisine and has a highly rated restaurant on the top floor. The drawback for us was that it doesn't serve food until 8.30 at night, which was a bit late as we had been in the road all day, and was a bit short on vegetarian options for my wife. However, we took at short drive into Vittoria-Gastez where there were lots of eating options. The only downside to this was that the hotel car park was full of diners' cars by the time we got back. That aside, the hotel was very comfortable, the room rate very reasonable, the breakfast was very good and the views across the countryside were amazing.

Lovely hotel. A real Parador. Its a pity that there is no swimmingpool while they have a very big nice garden.

Nice place, disappointing restaurant service
Mostly a great place for an overnight stay. The only criticism is the efficiency of service in the restaurant needs to be vastly improved overall. After being given the bread shortly after being seated, which was lovely, we waited over an hour to be be served what we ordered and the whole of the evening meal took at least another hour. We did get a nice glass of gazpacho about ten minutes before the starter as an amuse bouche which helped. Breakfast service was basic and lacking in service. We had to beckon a waitress to order cooked food from the kitchen and the two plates were brought to us with a five minute interval between each one which was disappointing. Now we've passed the covid distancing situation thing, hotels must surelg realise buffet breakfasts are always better, so guests aren't waiting unnecessarily when they want to get on with their day. Unless you're a bit pretentious that is! Apart from that, the reception, the bar service, the outside terrace and the room were all excellent. It's a nice place overall and maybe on another visit, the restaurant will be run properly.

Unlike many paradors the older part of the hotel is small and the accommodation is modern wings. so lacks a bit of character. Still very nice

To in walls, no sleeping for the tired
The walls in the room must be very thin, we could hear every noise, people in room next to our bed headboard talked until the sun came up, unfortunately they were loud and sounded intoxicated but all night and there was no way to not hear them, plus in the bathroom you could hear the next room when someone was using the toilet sink or shower, was gross. Also hallway noise came straight in!
The restaurant here is the worse food on our vacation, over priced and not fresh. Salmon and salads looked like they had been sitting for days! The server was very kind though, made the dinner tolerable. The fact we did not sleep a wink due to the noises all night, and we aren’t light sleepers, made this the worse stay on our Basque adventure. Would not stay here again.
We liked that this is a neat building in a nice country setting and only 12km from Vitoria which is good for Pintxos and all the workers from Vergenia to e receptionist to our server (can’t remember her name but she is part Cuban) at the bar and restaurant who made this stay.
