Sadly Shifting Focus
Sadly, we think this property has declined in the past couple of years. We’ve stayed here more than a dozen times in that period. We don’t remember being “nickeled and dimed” for every tiny amenity: more than a dollar for an extra towel; 75 cents for each page of a printed document; extra for a small bucket of ice. Holes in both the towels and bedsheets. The beds and pillows themselves remain quite good and comfy. The floors, though, look stained, particularly around the refrigerator. The breakfast, which, depending on how you want to look at room price, is not “free,” is better than average, but that’s a low bar. No fresh omelette or cooking station - rather, sushi rolls of various kinds. They say 6-10 am, but if you happen to show up a tad after 9, the pre-fried eggs and everything else in the warming pans has long since gone cold, and many are empty; the very nice espresso machine is shut down; the sushi rolls are pretty much gone. I don’t want to be unfairly harsh, but the place now feels more like a discount airline: packed, a bit rushed, and a good value only if you don’t expect anything in the way of a little extra service without being charged through the nose. The best part, not surprisingly, is the housekeeping staff who do a great job keeping the rooms well - make friends with them, and they can help in many little ways to improve on the “policy” people out front.
