After spending three wonderful nights at the world-class Nayara Resort in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, we drove to the Pacific coast for a five-night stay at the W Hotel in Reserva Conchal. Unfortunately, the experience was so disappointing that we decided to check out four days early and look for alternative accommodations online. That’s when we came across Capitan Suizo Hotel in Tamarindo, and what a pleasant surprise it was! This charming, Swiss-owned beachfront resort turned out to be nothing short of perfection. The atmosphere at Capitan Suizo is both understated and elegant, offering excellent value for the level of amenities provided. The hotel is impeccably maintained, with lush, beautiful grounds and outstanding service that makes you feel special from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow just steps from the ocean. The bungalow was beautifully furnished, featuring a private Jacuzzi, an outdoor shower, and a raised canopy bed. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, making mornings truly unforgettable. We enjoyed our complimentary breakfast just steps from our bungalow, which was a delightful way to begin each day. The staff at Capitan Suizo were exceptional, providing warm and attentive service throughout our stay, from check-in to check-out. If you’re planning a visit to Tamarindo, Capitan Suizo Beachfront Hotel is the only place to stay. We highly recommend it!

This was my favorite hotel to stay at in Costa Rica. It is a little out of downtown area which makes it quiet and relaxing. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast in the morning was awesome, the dinner at night on the beach was very relaxing, and the animals that you see at the hotel are amazing. Such a wonderful place! Private, special property with amazing staff, excellent and affordable food, delicious drinks- right on the beach! A full buffet breakfast is included with homemade bread - made at the hotel- inlet station and fresh local fruits. A nice cool pool and gardens with fruit trees, that encourage Costa Rican Wildlife (howler monkeys!) to live. My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at Capitan Suiza with an easy walk into Tamarindo to visit other restaurants, a fun night life, and surfing lessons! Concierge will book trips and let you rent beach equipment (snorkels, surfboards,etc) along with a little library, board games, outdoor pool table and ping pong! Room was gorgeous, clean, comfy beds, and large bathroom. Our only regret is not staying longer! We will be coming back for sure!

This was a really beautiful property, the location to the beach was amazing! The grounds were stunning as well! The staff was friendly and very helpful! It was nice to have the option to check out boogie boards right at the hotel, or you can rent surfboards right there as well. Our transportation to our next location didn't come until 3 hours after check out and they allowed us keep our luggage in a secure location and even had showers available if we wanted! This was a beautiful property!
