There was dog feces under the chair
We chose this hotel after staying at a questionable hotel last stay in Calgary. Since we generally trust Holiday Inn's we thought we'd get a cost effective night stay - we got in late and there was something wet between the two beds that we all stepped in numerous times, but being right before bed we just got to sleep. In the morning I woke up to step in it again and went to grab some tissue to soak some of it up - it was yellow, not clear. We had been stepping in either dog or cat urine all night - while we were packing up (cancelling our second night stay there) my daughters moved the chair in the corner of the room to find dog(or cat )faces underneath it - it was old, very dry and I'd assume had been there for a while. I was beyond disgusted - none of this is the end of the world, I understand people lie everyday and bring their animals into hotels without consent although when I went to the front desk the manager was rude, accusatory and could not care less about what I said. He immediately told me he'd have to send housekeeping to view the feces and asked if I had brought a pet. He notified me that the room we stayed in was a pet free room - not one time apologizing for what had taken place. It was disturbing, disappointing and I would never stay there again - had he have handled this interaction respectfully I would not have written a review and would have simply carried on my way but it was appalling the way he handled it. Poor service and gross rooms

Good
When we first checked into the hotel they gave me a room with one bed and a pull out sofa. I had booked for a room wifh two double beds. I went down to the front desk and he said he only had one room with two queen beds left and he would move us to that one. It was great until we got to the room, it was a room tucked away in the very corner of the hotel. Once you got past a certain point in the hallway you could smell a horrible smell of mold. The smell was so bad in our room I asked to be switched again but there wasnt any other room available. They brought me a machine used to cleanse the air that made it bearable to sleep in there if you didn't mind listening to a loud machine all night long. The next day we went out for the day, we came back to the same smell so i called and asked to be switched. They finally moved us to a new room, this is the third time in two nights we needed to move rooms. The breakfast was very sub par and the coffee was terrible. I dont think I will be staying at a holiday inn again. All that was offered was a free breakfast, they gave us a couple coupons however when i went for breakfast the next morning there were several people with the same coupons so im assuming this is a regular occurance and they give them out all the time. Their customer happiness is definitley not at the tip of their list. My whole family now have terrible coughs from what I'm assuming was sleeping in a room full of mold all night. Thanks for getting us all sick Holiday Inn

Fair
We were in 223. Bathroom smelled strongly like mildew, some of the “fresh” towels on the second day were dirty (not even just stained, actually had something on them), thin walls with room next door and someone was smoking pot next to our room’s air intake because the air vent was blowing it straight into our room. Which might sound fun except we had a newborn with us. When we called the front desk to let them know we were told “it’s too hard to figure out where it’s coming from”. They did offer to switch our room (for a smaller one) if it didn’t go away by the time we came back from dinner. I wish we had taken them up because it wasn’t until after the baby was asleep for the night that the vent started blowing pot smoke again. Needless to say we were super unimpressed with almost everything about the visit and would not recommend.

Mindlessness from housekeeping spoils it all
Very Strange stay at the Holiday Inn. The greeting from staff was great, warm & friendly. The hotel was spotless room spacious and had very comfortable beds. However we were placed with a view over the leisure centre (pool) roof which meant when it came time to sleep we had the constant humming and noise of the various air-conditions/ heaters. The next morning despite signs around offering a guarantee of not being disturbed between 9-9 a member of house keeping staff walked into our room while we were sleeping at 8am and then again at 9. We did have plans to use the pool in the morning however couldn't wait to check out and head to the airport instead for a long wait.

Good
It was clean, which was great, but we've found the service off. We wanted a bottle of wine and were refused, so we had to venture out when we didn't want to. Staff catered to the wedding no problem. For the price we paid, we expected what we normally do from holiday inn. We should have went down the street to days. Rooms were outdated, but menu prices were high end. It was way too expensive for food. Again we went out. Overall it was on but expected friendlier and accommodating staff. They should follow winnipeg lead on customer service
