Stay there every year as my daughter competes on the opera house stage in the national final for Physie. This year the air conditioning wasn’t working meaning she had an uncomfortable sleep before. The hotel needs some tlc. Some things looked like they had aged in the year. Although beautifully dressed for Christmas, rugs in the lobby for example, are worn and tattered. The couch in our room was stained…..Fridge wasn’t working and the sauna is still not operational after 3 years. The parking fee has increased by $20 a day in one year. The convenience to circular quay is brilliant.

Location, location, location
Wow, an amazing base from which to explore Sydney. Location is 10 stars. Breakfast was great. “Concierge” services were generally far below what one would expect at this price point, although it was truly hit or miss. Miss: We asked about a harbor cruise, and the concierge basically point at a stack of brochures. Hit: We asked a different concierge about a harbor cruise, and he helped us book it right then and there, with numerous options and even printed the confirmation and put it under our door so we didn’t have to carry it around all day. The “miss” was basically 2/3 of the people we dealt with in that position, need some new training. A concierge should be very familiar with the city and the questions travelers ask.

Not what I expected
It said they had off-street parking (at a price). I arranged that. I expected valet parking, but instead I was told where to park my car. There was instant coffee & tea bags and a jug to make a cuppa. The milk was not in the fridge. There were no biscuits, no mini-bar, no complimentary bottled water. The windows have peeling paint. The curtains did not slide easily on the curtain rails.

The hotel is idealy located to visit the Opera house It has helpful friendly staff with a good breakfast buffet.. The only shortcomings are the hotel is looking tired in places & the parking spaces are tight in parking a Toyota RAV 4.

Great suite. Would be bigger than some people's apartments. Marble bathroom , two toilets, separate loungeroom, huge bedroom. Only downside is the selection of free coffees and teas. Pretty awful and only two of each. My husband likes 2 coffees before he gets up and I like one. No free biscuits! Love free biscuits with our early morning coffee
