A lovely resort marred by terrible, cold & clueless service at check out. First, the good things, the resort is beautiful, the private beach (and nearby Sandy Cove) are beautiful; hotel offers some excellent Yoga, Archery and other classes, led by lovely staff. The negatives: if you fly in late and arrive at night (for most East Coasters) past 10PM there is NO FOOD available. The convenience store closes at 10PM. Although connected to a restaurant, the choices are limited. For vegetarians, choices are fewer still. I went in the off-season when the hotel was very lean - my deparure flight was moved from early AM to 7PM (red eye), and I was denied the very reasonable request to get an extended check out. A late checkout was offered to another member of my group who is a Hyatt Member, but the front desk could not add two and two together, even after being told. Even so, I was willing to pay a day rate, but the frint staff were clueless and unfriendly and said the best they could do (in a nearly empty hotel) was to charge me $50 for 30 min ext. This from a Hyatt Hotel where I had hosted my son's wedding just last year... Nowhere in my world travel experience have I had such a unfriendly response to a late checkout request during the off season (and this guest atleast arrived only at 9PM). So, they maximize extraction of money when guests coming in, but offer no flexibility on the exit. On principle, I will be wary of any Hyatt in future. It belies the advertising of hospitality.
