OK – I don’t usually review. And I have never to date published a “negative” review. But after the stay at Nomads in San Clemente I must comment. I stayed in the “sunset room”. Hilariously named because the room is located on the east side of the building and basically underground … no sunset here other than the orange walls and maybe light dimmers. So, if you like basements and a single small street level window that faces east, this is your place.
But that was not the real issue. The room is located directly under the Nomads Bar/Restaurant. Yes, right under, with no sound isolation whatsoever. Which resulted in the room not being inhabitable from about 3pm (yeah basically check-in) to about midnight after the cleaning crew in the Bar/Restaurant was done making their very loud racket. So … think about tables, chairs, shoes and boots on hardwood floors and you are right under it. Mind numbing noise … nonstop until closing and cleaning complete. And then around 3am the people in the room next store started making noise through what seemed to be paper thin walls.
This Sunset room specifically is to be avoided for sure unless you want to know what I think a prison might sound like after lights out. I guess the tip off should have been the jar of earplugs on the nightstand …. Really!
The rest of the Nomad experience …. It is right in the middle of town and convenient … but if the main criteria are just a quiet comfortable room to wind down
