Highlights of Glen Canyon Park

Glen Canyon Park is a large city park with a wealth of offerings that surpass many parks of its type, such as nearly 70 acres of unspoiled green space and hiking trails. Islais Creek is amongst the largest creeks in San Francisco and draws animals like owls, coyotes, opossums, raccoons, hawks, and damselflies.

It's also known for its geology, large rock outcroppings, and bouldering opportunities for climbers. For more typical recreation, the park offers playgrounds, 2 tennis courts, baseball fields, and a recreation centre. You'll also have easy access to the Diamond Heights Shopping Centre that offers modern shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Good to know about Glen Canyon Park

Glen Canyon Park is ideal for hiking, but the geography makes it a bit difficult for bicycles, though they are permitted. The park is also dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your leashed pets with you. The hiking trails encompass 1.8 miles out and back, and they offer appropriate challenges for any skill level.

Though the park covers more than 60 acres of space winding through an undeveloped canyon, it is a city park in the heart of San Francisco that bisects 2 residential areas. It's a family-friendly destination, but those with mobility issues may have some difficulty.
