Disappointing Birthday Experience at Excellence El
I visited Excellence El Carmen in the Dominican Republic for my birthday, hoping for a luxurious getaway, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Positives: The property is beautiful, with well-manicured grounds and clean facilities. Unfortunately, that’s the only good thing I can say about it. Negatives: 1. Service: The service was inconsistent and lackluster. Room service never arrived despite multiple requests, leaving us frustrated and hungry. 2. Food: The food was terrible. Dishes at The Kitchen Table looked old and unappetizing, almost as if they were artificially made. I became sick after dining at the Spice restaurant, even though I avoided drinking the water entirely. Upgrading to the “Excellence Club” made no difference in food quality. 3. Drinks: The liquor was low-grade and disappointing, far below the standards of a luxury resort. Again, the Excellence Club upgrade added no value here. 4. Cleanliness: There was a roach in my room. For a resort claiming to be high-end, this is unacceptable and speaks to poor attention to detail. 5. Dress Codes: The resort enforces outdated dress codes that feel completely unnecessary and out of touch for a modern vacation experience. 6. Entertainment: The Michael Jackson performance lacked energy and was far from entertaining. 7. Fake Reviews: Be wary of glowing reviews online—they seem fake, likely created by bots. Initially had a very bad experience during check in. Can’t remember the name of the woman who checked me in but she was very rude to me and my husband, I went there for my honeymoon and did not even receive a congratulations from the person, even though I called and emailed beforehand stating it was a honeymoon and the lady clearly knew it was for this reason we went on the getaway as I asked her if it was in the reservation and she stated it was but refused to give me any information about the benefits we would get for going there on our honeymoon. The rest of the staff was pleasant. We enjoyed the service from Roberto and Maritza in the pool area as well as Estivenson our waiter from the Asian Restaurant. Angelo was algo very nice when he brought us our breakfast to the room, The food overall was edible but not the best, would rate it 3.5/5. The beach area was great, very clean. Overall would rate the hotel 4/5.

My wife and I stayed in one of their swim out suites one of the most comfortable rooms and an all inclusive we've ever stayed in The lobby, the restaurants, and all the facilities were just immaculate Even though the sand is not the perfect white sand that you might see further south, I thought the beach was one of the most beautiful beaches we've ever stayed at, and I have been too many many all inclusive The staff and the service was incredible. Granted we went in low season so there weren't a lot of people there, but I can't imagine the staff wouldn't be perfect anytime. About the food, many people complain about food at all inclusive this one however it was probably the best food and all inclusive that we've been to. Was it perfect no but it's all inclusive If you're a foodie, you always could find something wrong. But if you're an average person, the food at this hotel was fantastic. The only downside was the beach buffet, not so hot but if you order the pre-cook order the made to order hamburgers and pizza. It was fantastic. My wife and I have been going to all inclusive for about 20 years. And this one definitely ranks as the top one or two we've ever been to.

Excellence El Carmen was our first experience with an all inclusive and they did not disappoint us at all. Staff was great the resort is Beautiful and clean.

Beautiful resort. Lots of dining options and all are amazing. Cute little ice cream/dessert/coffee shop. Nightly shows are great. Only thing I didn't like was the fact that the pools close at 7 pm - including the swim outs. I would have liked to use my swim out a little longer. Room service is also great and very fast. Housekeeping is wonderful. Loved coming back to the room to see what she did each day. Beach was beautiful and very swimmable.

We absolutely enjoyed our vacation here. What we loved most is the service from our private pool. We don't need to get out to get a drink. Our always ready Sammy the bartender always checks if we need anything. If we also lucked out because the resort was not crowded I guess because it wasn't peak season. The food is not bad. It's not michelin rated so do not expect much but the octopus at lobster house and the ceviche at flavor market is highly recommended. Staff are great and you are pampered. Only very minor issue I guess is that unlike other Caribbean resorts like in Cancun, T&C or Aruba, there is no language barrier. But again, overall it was a great vacation. We will certainly go back after we check off others in our list. :)

Property was very well laid out other than the evening activities noise made it impossible to relax until the shows were over. Ice makers not working. Had terrible sickness while there and spoke with other guests who were experiencing the same
