The rooms are very small for a king bedroom, the photos of the king room on the website were not the same as what we had, our room was much older not updated at all as it stated in the description. They don’t provide glass cups only plastic, for $375 a night, I expected nicer.

Girls trip-not impressed
I bring my mom and sister to Chicago every year for a girls trip, and this year I picked the Godfrey as it got a good review on Condé Nast’s readers choice awards. We were very underwhelmed with the service and the room. I picked a suite so that we would have room for the 3 of us to sleep. Maintenance of the room was not to the standards I would expect for a high end hotel. Carpet was worn and the room with the couch in it had inadequate lighting. There was no bedding provided for the pull out couch, no ice bucket in the room, and only enough coffee and cups for two people. I was also not impressed that they offered powdered creamer in the room instead of coffee mate creamers. Service staff was helpful when we asked for help but did not go out of their way to help or even acknowledge us. It may seem like I am nitpicking, but these are the details that distinguish a great hotel from one that just does the bare minimum. Hopefully they can get their act together.

Desk staff was amazing, we were able to check in early, giving us the opportunity to get our day started without carrying our bags. Brunch reservation on the rooftop was a good experience and the food was great. Late check out helped us to not have to worry about checking our bags and we could freshen up prior to catching our train home. Great stay!

Decent stay. Rooftop and food A+
Our room 717 was so uncomfortably hot we couldn’t sleep. Mind you we didn’t ask for service we just dealt with it so they maybe could have done something. Thermostat was all the way down to 65 and fan on high and we slept with cold towels on us and still couldn’t sleep. This room had drywall mud in the bathroom but overall the room was clean. The rooftop is amazing and food was excellent. Could have sworn the site mentioned a hot tub and when we got there there was not one.

Weekend of hotel disappointment
The window to look outside had a huge beam running diagonally across it. Couldn’t look outside. The bathroom window, which was behind another beam, didn’t allow us to look outside and there was no covering on it. The closet only had a handful of hangers and no dresser to put the rest of our close. We had to live out of our suitcases. The tv channel selection sucked and it had no smart tv. To say I was disappointed is an understatement.

Valet stopped accepting cars by 9 pm
Waited for valet about 20 minutes all the while calling the hotel to speak to a live person to avoid having to leave the car unattended parked illegally on a narrow street. Finally I front desk answered and said to be patient valet was busy and he should be there soon. 15 more minutes went by and I just went in. Only to be told after checking in that valet was no longer taking cars and to try next door at hotel Felix who told me the same thing ! Then was told we could walk a couple blocks to a garage and walk over. Hubby recovering from leg injury so that option was out. So Valeria at the Godfrey thankfully cancelled our stay and we just drove the hour home and told me to reach out to hotels.com for a refund which they would grant given tonight’s crazy circumstances . Hotels.com is still working this out since when they called the hotel Valeria wasn’t available and there were no notes left behind for the staff and manager to work this out. So now we are getting the run around from the Godfrey as hotels.com is working on my behalf to get this refund granted. So beware if you aren’t checking in right at 4pm there is a huge chance this hotel may run out valet spots for your vehicle. I can’t imagine if we would’ve had our small kids with us and couldn’t drive home.
