Montra Skaga Hotel
"If you are biking along the coast the hotel has a proper designated locked room for bicycles. Great front end staff. Room was a good size and comfortable. There is a kettle, cups and coffee in the room. We ate at the hotel and found the quality of the food and service were very good but I would say I found the portions to be small. Maybe this is a Danish thing but there wasn't a shower door on the shower. FYI, the hotel is located quite a ways from the centre of town so you will feel a little stranded if you do not have transportation."
Hotel Frederikshavn
"all very clean. But the room was exceptionally small and the bathroom too small for turning around. Difficult for 2 people to find space for minimal things breakfast was excellent"
Quality Hotel The Reef
"The pool was brilliant, the rooms were clean and tidy. The staff are great very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good as well"
Hotel Jutlandia
"Great location close to ferry."
Park Hotel
"A small family hotel full of charm and exceptional value. If you want a bit of old fashioned charm and warmth you will find it here. We were delighted with our stay and the helpfulness and warmth of welcome of the hosts who take time to make sure their guests are happy. Our room was very comfortable and the decor was thoughtful and warm. The breakfast room lounge area is an absolute delight as was the excellent buffet breakfast. Having been badly let down by our previous accommodation we considered ourselves very lucky to have found The Park Hotel."
Skagen Strand Hotel Og Feriecenter
"We spent 2 nights at the property. The place was Clean but a bit dated. Only clean linnes were provided no towels or soap. Some ants were visible. Great location. Very private and quiet. No A/C."
Hotel Strandlyst Badehotel
"The hotel is fairly close to the ferry terminal and beach which is what we wanted. The beds were not particularly comfortable and we were only given 1 towel each. No hand towels. We were also on a busy street so it was pretty noisy. They did have a pleasant second floor deck that we enjoyed sitting on."
Best Western Hotel Herman Bang
"Thus was a nice , functional good property. Really good breakfast. Staff from the start was great. I have nothing but positive comments."
B&B by the Sea Hirtshals
"B&B by the sea is essentially a B&b even if there is a restaurant on site. We had room 12 which turned out to be a 2 bedroom apartment with a balcony facing the ocean. The view was spectacular and it was very nice for the three of us to have two separate bedrooms. The room came with a breakfast buffet. I had expected a “ continental “ kind of setup but it was much more and turned out to be very nice with a large variety of offerings."

You could also look into independent hotels located further out, which are usually more likely to be affordable and can provide a more authentic experience.
