The Oberoi is a beautiful property with very attentive staff. We stayed 14 nights & I believe the average is 5.I had no idea Turtle bay was so remote when the booking was made & as a result we found ourselves often in taxis usually destined for Grand Bay where we had some great Chinese dinners in a little back lane place recommended by Darmon, Oberoi chef. It was "100% local" accordingly to our taxi driver.Be prepared for an $80 return taxi fare. I cant take anything away from this property...

My routine was to exit through the car operated gate to the beach, climb over a few boulders and then walk barefoot along the 2 km Mon Choisy beach (4 k there and back) then swim for 40 minutes (blissfully alone) in the gorgeous pool and then set off to explore the neighbourhood in my rental car which I could park inside the complex (with a guard). Beautiful, peaceful resort. Amazing experience. Great and clean facilities. The only drawback is that the resort is incredibly FAR from the shops and towns. It is not a walking distance. It is very secluded from everything. Taxi from the hotel is INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE to get to anywhere. Overall it costs a lot to travel from the resort and it costs a LOT to eat at the resort too. Everything about this hotel was on point. The facilities, service, food, kids club. JD the wellness staff member was exceptional and deserves recognition. Because of him we knew all about the hotel, facilities and ability to use the wellness centre at the spa free of charge. Without him we would not have known this. Kids club had kids eat free which was another lovely bonus. Well done Lux a great family holiday had for all the family :-)
