The hotel birke is a beautiful hotel in many ways, absolutely 5 star reception area, bar and restaurant. Beautiful furnishings, service and lovely and cosy in the winter with open fire in these shared areas. I had a cosy garret room which was lovely in a lot of ways except for the carpet, which was really very very stained with drops and brown marks, it really needs replacing or a thorough steam clean and was off putting, i did not want to walk on it as it did not feel clean the sheets and...

the bathroom area can smell the cigarette.

Good location 300 m to station and about 1 km to old town. Lovely tree-lined area. Very courteous and efficient check-in. Spacious rooms and corridors. Would definitely come again.
