Family ski trip to Yuzawa
Japanese, family focused hotel in Yuzawa snow region. They offer both Western and traditional Japanese type rooms. We had buffet breakfast and dinner included and they provided a great choice of both Western and Japanese food.
Staff very friendly and helpful. There was a free bus shuttle from the train to the hotel and also free bus shuttle to other snow resorts in the area. We skied at Gala and this was fabulous.

Everything is good
They have a shuttle bus service for a 20min ride to Hotel. The bus runs every hour. Service is good, food is good, no complaints.
Well the room is on the small side, this is Japan style.

Good for families with kids
Great place to stay for first time skiers/snowboarders. Especially well-suited for families with children since the Nakazato Snow wood ski resort is right next to the hotel (literally right outside the hotel) with convenient access to rentals (also next to hotel).
Intermediate skiers/boarders will find the course boring but the hotel has shuttles to nearby resorts and sell discounted lift tickets as well.
The hotel accommodates a lot of large groups and so will feel noisy/crowded at peak season. But again, everything here is mostly geared for larger groups and families...which they do well.

Very suitable for playing in the snow. This hotel is a a bit aged, but the facilities are great. The staffs are friendly. The onsen and breakfast are good. The free shuttle bus to echigo yuzawa station is excellent.

Go Again (Great Stay Great Meals)
We stayed at the ski resort for 2 nights in March.
Unfortunately the snow was nearly icy but the stay else was totally GREAT.
1. Convenient - 15min free shuttle bus from the Shinkansen Station
2. Easy Ski - full set rental ski/snowboard can be prepared beside the hotel/ski area
3. Good buffet meals - famous rice and seafood, tatsty waffle, home-roasted coffee, juicy steak slices, etc.
4. Relax Atmostphere - certified as family-friendly hotel. Many foreign families and never mind others.
5. Hotspring - can keep you warm
Definitely recommned it for family-use!

A nice Japanese style room
Ski area is right in front of the hotel. It has 2 hot spring public bath areas. Check in 3pm and check out 10am. However you can enjoy the facilities outside these hours. As it has 300+ rooms the place can be quite chaotic. Also all instructions and directions information are in Japanese. Staff can only manage little spoken English. They have Chinese staff who can speak Mandarin and Japanese. Breakfast is mainly japanese cuisine. Room is huge can sleep 4 adults and has bulk bed for 2 kids. Tatami style so you have to setup mattress and blanket yourself. Separate toilet and shower rooms. Kitchen sink and cooker provided too.

Overall good. Room was surprisingly big. Except that there's really no other restaurants or shops around the hotel. Meals have to be settled by taking the free shuttle to the train station.

Pleasant hotel
Room was bare minimum, 1 table plus 4 seat cushions plus 5 sets tatami mattresses. Sufficient for my family of 4 (which includes my 11 & 12 yr old kids). Clean. Separate toilet and bath areas. Shower water pressure was weak. Breakfast was great, a good variety of food. Staff was pleasant. Great that they had hourly shuttle to echigo yuzawa train station, from there we took another bus to the mountains for snowboarding.

Close to ski resort
It was indeed an excellent experience staying in this hotel. The room was overlooking the ski mountain slope. The room was huge and clean. The staff were nice, lend me their landline so that I can call my next accommodation and allowed me to extend an hour more to check out.

Best hotel I've ever stayed in Japan
Good value for money. I got a large Japanese type room for $90. What a steal! The room accommodated my family of 5 comfortably.
Dinner buffet is delicious (Y2,800). Breakfast buffet is the best. At Y1000, a wide variety of Japanese and western food is offered. There was only 1 minor kink. While the room specifically provides that up to 4 kids are allowed, ( without any info on additional fees) the hotel initially billed us an atrocious amount ( more than the amount paid for the room) but was able to negotiate with management. I was supposed to email the hotel in advance. At any rate, our stay at Hotel Angel Grandia made our trip unforgettable.
