In the middle of renovations, but everyone was kind, the rooms were clean, and close to places we wanted to go. Would stay again.

Perfect hotel to book for a short or long vacations. The rooms are clean, cozy and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with everything. Love you can grab coffee or tea anytime of the day. The pool was a vibe and refreshing after a long day. The garden area was beautiful too. Definitely will book again.

WELL, DESPITE OF THE FACT , THAT THEY SHOULD DO MORE TO PROTECT THE GUESTS FROM LESS PRIVACY AND MORE SECURITY, BUT SOME OF THE PERSONAL IS REALLY A VERY GOOD ONE!

This hotel is a great budget-friendly hotel. The hotel is older but appears to be well kept. The manager/owner was on-site and was setting the example by making sure the guests were a priority. He stopped conversations on two occasions just to make sure we were happy. Smaller rooms, older but with new paint, etc...we took our granddaughter to a concert, and she loved it. There is a trolley line parking lot very close...we took it right to Petco....no problems

Keeping in mind this hotel is being renovated; there is still a lot of work to be done. The bed was comfortable and the room clean.

Very nice and helpful staff. The rooms are very good, comfortable bed, the only downside is that you can hear a lot the passage of cars on the road passing by. The breakfast is very good and we have everything we need available (microwave, water fountain ..).

New owners? Completely renovated to best. Staff was above & beyond amazing such that there could not possibly be any dissatisfaction. Highly recommend, especially for the price.

The room was very clean and nicely remodeled. The pool and spa were clean and well maintained. The property is located next to a beautiful nature preserve. The sheets and towels were not the finest quality. They are basic and functional. The breakfast was great and the kids enjoyed making their own giant waffles.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Alcadia and couldn’t have asked for more. The renovation is immediately apparent — everything feels fresh, modern, and thoughtfully done. The beds are seriously comfortable. The location is a standout. We were close to everything we wanted to explore, which made the whole trip effortless. Great value, great vibe. We’ll definitely be back.

Breakfast was great. Many selections. Tv in room did not work. Only 2 towels. No hairdryer. Sheets were like sandpaper. Very nice staff.

When we booked the room a big part of why we chose it was for the location & pool access, we arrive and the entire pool area is under construction without prior notice during the booking process. Also they don’t inform you of what debit/credit cards are accepted for deposit until you go to check in so if you happen to bank with a company they don’t accept then you are out of luck. Lastly we never got our deposit back despite not having a reason to keep it. Over all the workers were nice but I wouldn’t rebook here.

The hotel was being renovated while we stayed there so I hope that it gets updated nicely. The rooms are a bit outdated. The door in my bathroom was broken. But it was a convenient location to get around to all the sight seeing places in San Diego.

My room was clean and the staff were very polite and helpful. The problem was the area which is pretty scary due to the many drug users and a large homeless encampment in the area. Actually this is a problem all over SD. As a single woman traveling alone I did not feel safe outside of my room or in the parking lot. It’s one of those older motels with the room door opening to an outer walkway, so you can’t open your window or curtains comfortably. That said, the Alcala is close to everywhere you want to be in SD, including downtown, the beaches, and Sea World.

Not sure what all the other reviews were raving about- “quiet”- absolutely not. The highway is right there and extremely loud. The air conditioner would turn on /off- every time on- woke us up bc sooooo loud. But too hot to turn off. The front desk had ear plugs if asked. The employees were all nice. Breakfast that everyone was cheering about is the typical free breakfast. Nothing to rave about. We had along hair on the bed at arrival and plenty in the shower. Towels, pillows were not good. But Parking is free- which was nice. Location is close to things which is a total plus. Looks like they put some work into it- some cute decor and paint, but still very old hotel. Wear your shoes in shower kinda place. It’s not terrible by all means, just want others to know bc we went in with all the “quiet and best breakfast” reviews. And we’re let down.
