Huge room, private onsen, delicious dinner that left us rolling to our rooms, transport to and from the hotel to the station and to Nagano monkey park, and the customer service is incredible. Can’t recommend this place enough!

I had an amazing time. The people were very kind and helpful. The tub and views were breathtaking and the food was incredible. They had transportation from the train station to the hotel arranged without me even asking.

The staff at the property were amazing. So very helpful and humble people. As a westerner I had always stayed at Marriott properties in Japan and to experience Japanese culture we decided to stay at a Rayokan. The Japanese food was very tasty and very elegantly presented. The Onsen bath was very nice with a wonderful view over the city. If you want to experience Japanese culture in a mountain setting, this is the place.

Just an amazing experience. As an only english speaking Canadian, it was a truely magical time. Make sure you take advantage of all the amenities and at least once, use the private bath on the roof.

Highlight of our trip
This was our first time at a ryokan and our stay was the highlight of our 25 day trip to Japan. Great customer service from staff. Food was delicious (dinner and breakfast) and very accommodating on diet restrictions. They provided shuttle from Yudanaka Station and Snow Monkey Park. I would highly recommend them if staying in Nagano. Arigato Gozaimasu (Thank you) Ryokan Biyunoyado for a lovely stay.

The staff and cleanliness of the hotel was great. However the property is quite dated (there was a little bit of musty smell) around the room and corridors. The food experience was good although I am not sure if worth the price. Overall we had a good stay but I may not stay again.

Ok but more can be done
- arranged pick up did not arrive on time
- staff who saw to arrangement was clueless or at least no apology was made by her
- did not feel the usual Japanese etiquettes whether on check in, meal services etc. General feeling is that the ryokan is understaffed
- no towels provided at the onsen, have to bring and reuse towels from room
- meals were ok, not wow
- position of heater over the bed rest was awkward, too stuffy to sleep

Delicious food, beautiful onsen. Staff is great and so friendly with kids. We had our 3y old with us, tatami rooms and great for families. They had a special kid meal and breakfast every day. We loved it!
Great property and onsen. Food was very fun and staff were great.

Not an Exciting Memory
The hotel needs updating, quite run down. The plus point was that they had a Mandarin speaking staff who helped us navigate through dinner and breakfast.
What puzzled us was that we had to pay a bath tax even though one did not use the Onsen.
