Think twice and call about details before booking!
I once stayed here in 2014 an upstairs room. I found the grounds enjoyable and the stay was a work stay, where I spent a great deal of time alone, working. I really liked it. However this time I was with my girlfriend and I found the stay not as I once experienced it.
We were 1 hour early and unable to check-in
There isn't any air conditioning, and our ground floor room was heated during the day by the sun and a fan was inadequate, even at night because the only way to introduce outside cool air was to open the sliding door all night.
The smell of cat feces was prevalent from the porch facing the view. We were told not to let any cats in our room as part of the checkin. That should have been a tip as to our expectations.
The staff was polite but offered little empathy when pushed back on regarding check-in times, cat crap smell.
The restaurant is a shadow of what I remember, and for a seaside resort, has but one fish on the menu - We went to Cambria for dinner.
Overall I won't stay there again, although it's a beautiful place to stay, the service I take for granted at other hotels doesn't seem to exist at the staff level at this place. I am sad to report.
