poor personal service
The hotel was fine, but the owner was less than friendly - I never write reviews, but his lack of friendly service was just too much. There are a lot of steps to go up and he would not help with my bag. Also, if I asked to buy a glass of wine he acted like he was doing me a favor. I was so mad at him that I did not buy dinner in their restaurant even though it has good reviews. I was in France for a month and I never received such rude, unfriendly service.

Hilltop Bonnieux, Le Cesar
Le Cesar is a small, older hotel & restaurant, typical for a hilltop town in Provence. The room that my girlfriend and I had was quite small (as expected) but it was clean. The toilet and shower/sink are in two, small, separate rooms, within the main room. The service was adequate, but perfunctory. The proprietor will take you to the main door to the hotel section, give you two keys (main door and your room) and let you make your way up the stairs to your room, with whatever luggage you have (no lift). Our room faced the street running through the town, so it was a bit noisy in the evening (cars and people going by); however the rooms overlooking the valley are quite, with spectacular views. The breakfast is continental (good coffee, croissants and bread). We found all of this worthwhile, due to the location; within the beautiful, Medieval hilltop town of Bonnieux.

Our room had a balcony, which was the saving grace of the experience. The room was small and cramped, the bathroom had no ventilation at all, and the light in the shower room was very dim. It was passably clean.

Fine for one night
The room was clean, but very small. We were in the annex, and the price was great compared to other hotels in the area. So we did not expect anything fantastic. However, this specific room was advertised on hotels. com with air conditioning, and there was none. We faced the street, again I am sure because of the lower priced room. It was quiet enough so we could have the windows open all night. The restaurant was good, and views from the restaurant excellent.

Wonderful stay!
We stayed in one of the cheaper rooms which was a perfect fit for our needs and our one night stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The owners welcoming and friendly. We also had dinner at the restaurant - fantastic food and incredibly views. Highly recommended!

Staff were not helpful unless we insisted (asked for extra towels, bottle wine bottle opener, food options in the area, they seemed confused by our Quebecois accent, etc). The view was beautiful from the balcony. However, the doorway to the balcony was very small and it was easy to hit your head. There wasn't much storage space for luggage/clothing. The bathroom was tiny and not all the lights were working. There is a church bell that rings very close to the hotel every hour. This is not a great value for the price.

It wasn't the best time (November) to be here, in some ways. The restaurant was closed; I think I was the only guest of the hotel. On the other hand, it was wonderful. My room was an austere work of art. The staff was warm and genuine. The town of Bonnieux is extraordinary, perched anciently upon a cliff. The restaurants in town are wonderful, at this time of year even though the season is over. I am so glad I stayed here at Cesar and so glad I came to Bonnieux in November. Every moment was special.

The hotel was perfect, lovely view of the surrounding area. They served a nice continental breakfast with great coffee. The location was easy to find and a close to everything in the village. Bonnieux is a small village with a lovely Saturday market

Great position, good value and good food.
Hotel is a small, cosy place in a great position overlooking the town and valley below. It seemed particularly good value compared to others in the area. We were given the "individuelle" room in main building rather than a double with balcony in the annex. The room was a bit small but fine for one night and it had a balcony so enabled us to look over the great view. The owners were really pleasant and welcoming. Parking is on street but seemed relatively easy to find spaces (Sunday night). We ate dinner in the hotel which was really good and we were recommended some local Luberon Bio wine which was excellent. There are also a number of other restaurants in the town which looked popular.

Million Dollar View/Outstanding Restaurant
Very traditional looking small French hotel, the room was clean and comfortable. Updated bathroom with very modern fixtures. The view was truly priceless. Had dinner at the restaurant. Amazing. I was in France for three weeks and this was one of my favourite meals. the restaurant has a panoramic view (as advertised) which was almost as good as the meal (the meal was very good, did I say that). Oh yeah cable and wifi were good too. A great place for a night or two if you are visiting Luberon hill towns or just want to chill.
