10/10 Exceptional

The property is well located with plenty of restaurants close by. The room was a nice size and fairly easy to access (at the top of some stairs). The room was clean with a tv with Firestick and fridge. The owner brought us milk which we appreciated but we would have liked more tea and coffee pods (there was some on the fridge but we didn’t realise). We didn’t have hot water for the shower but the owner turned up to fix the issue very quickly which was great. I would recommend this property and would stay again as the owners were communicative and quick to resolve any issues.

I cannot say enough good things about this property. Our gracious host remained in contact with us throughout our stay checking in every few hours just to make sure that everything was OK and to our liking. Additionally, we were allowed to check in a few hours early as our room was available and we greeted with welcome bottles of water and an offer of coffee. As we prepare to depart, our taxi canceled at the last minute and the staff stayed with us until we secured a new transport as public transportation was not available to where we were going. The location of the hotel itself is fabulous steps away from the old city and less than a 40 minute walk to the Temples. Hop on hop off bus is right across the street for those who are interested. Highly recommend!

Fabulous room
Great 2 night stay in Agrigento. The B&B is very central to old town, lots of restaurants and parking. The room decor is fabulous. The room (Luigi XIV suite) is very spcacious and has a large balcony which was great to watch the world passing by in the mornings and evenings. All communication with the host was smooth and no problems. She was very kind and helpful to us. Highly recommend.

A good value, quirky hotel in an excellent positio
The hotel is in an excellent position, very close to the station and close to the centre storico. The furnishings and fittings are very quirky but well done. It was very good value for money. We found the hands-off approach rather disconcerting but it worked well enough.

To Avoid
Avoid this place! The B&B is only a B. There was no breakfast with the Bed, and we were informed of this only at the last minute. Parking is 50 steps up a steep stone stairway with no railing, and this is a huge problem if you have luggage. Again, we were not informed of this in advance. No shower mat, no soap in shower, the bathroom faucet squirts in all directions. The owner was completely absent and indifferent. Decor resembles a decadent Belle Epoque house of pleasure. However, the pleasure and comfort of the visitor seems to have no place in the mind of the owner.

No Elevator, No Heat, No Deal
We booked the best room in the property, but what a mistake. The location across the street from the train station seemed ideal, but it requires a climb up five steep stories to get to it. Forty-one (41) steps and no elevator! What a surprise. If you arrive when it’s raining, no cover, either. The marble steps are slick when wet and it is a long way down if you fall. The Covid years have not been kind to smaller properties like this one. The two nights we stayed, the temperature dropped into the high 30s and there was no heat except for a small, loud 5-inch plastic heater we ran all night. We slept in our clothes and we did not shower until the second day when we had the time to let the small heater run a good long while in the bathroom to warm it up. We complained to the landlord right away, who promised to fix the old wall heat/ac the next day, but then he conveniently “forgot.” So the second night we tried the heat in the two other rooms that were unlocked in the property and it did not work in any of them, either. We slept a second night in our clothes with an extra blanket, too. The room we rented had an exceptional view of the ancient church next door. To the property’s credit, we had hot running water and the rooms were clean. I asked for a credit for the troubles we experienced, but the owner never responded. In all my years of travel, I have never encountered a property without heat for two nights. This property’s best days may be behind it. Be aware.

6/10 Good

Decent hotel (not luxurious) in a great location
La Dolce is decent place. Very well situated, only across the street to the main commercial street. However, to bill as a “luxury” house is a misnomer. The room photos are accurate but it is not luxurious by far, Very little soundproofing so you can hear your other 2 neighbors. Bed is comfortable. The private external bathroom is right across from the breakfast table, so can be awkward. Parking is street parking behind the hotel and wasn’t bad in winter

Convenient location, lovely room
Hotel convenient to railway station, but hard to walk up 42 steps with cases, availability of staff very limited, they are only there during check in times. Could be better, we arrived at 3pm was shown room came out 10 mins later and no one there. They supplied a kettle and mini fridge but no cups or glasses, When we arrived at the b&b, they wanted another 15 euros per day for breakfast, but lovely cafe across road and we had breakfast for 2 under 10 euros. Room was as pictured but with a bit of thought could be better, no complimentary water

2/10 Poor

We arrived just 10’ later and the guy was not there and didn’t want to come back to open the door for us (as he said ‘i only work there and I don’t care’. This guy Dario was more than rude and unrespectul with us. He left us out and we had to look for another hotel. Worst experience ever.

good location. fair bathroom. noisy. bad parking.
Nice room with a balcony. We were told the room had an ocean view but actually you could see very little from the balcony. parking is on the roadside up the hill. The hotel was like 100 staircases down the hill. Had to carry the luggage all the way up and down. The bathroom is not as the same standard as the room itself. Doesnt make me feel comfortable and the shower room is tiny. Nice location though. 2 minutes walk from the central. The room is just 1 floor up a busy pub. Very noisy at night.

The defect is that check-in time is limited. In our case, the travel information center was kind enough to call the reception.

A beauty!
This B & B was beyond expectation. Beautiful suite, exceptional breakfast served in bed / private balcony. Interior decorating amazing. Located near historic site and city center, Fantastic restaurants, great prices in general in this city. I was two minutes late for check in and they had left. I flagged down a local on the street and asked her to call them. I didn't have an itn'l phone. I was told to wait 45 min. Once they showed up check in was speedy but that was not a happy experience after travelling all day.

Wonderful Agrigento
Lovely 2 day stay in Agrigento. Right in the centre of everything. Room lovely apart from the fact the we had an external bathroom (not clearly indicated on hotel.com) Amazing breakfast we eat on the balcony overlooking a nice people watching spot and distant view of the sea. Nice evening wine spot too. The only problem we encountered was no one was there when we arrived at 2.30pm (Reception time stated as 2-8pm) After trying to phone then texting, someone then turned up and we got checked in at 3.30pm. Email them with your arrival time if you decide to stay at this lovely hotel to avoid this issue.

An amazing experience.
Hosts most welcoming and extremely helpful. Room presented with attention to every detail. Lovely views from private balcony. Pre-ordered breakfast, to have on the balcony, delivered to the room at the time you select. Many good restaurants within east walking distance. Overall an excellent experience.

different things for different people. The hotel is nice but there was usually no one around to ask for info, internet was down for the whole day and night and no IRON... such an important thing to have to offer!

Look elsewhere
Our 2-night stay in the Luigi XIV room was uneven, for sure. The decor is exactly as it appears in the listing photos, gold paint and red velvet over-the-top kitsch, and in excellent condition, reasonably spacious with a small balcony overlooking a parking piazza, church, and, in the distance, the sea. Dario, one of two young brothers who own this place, welcomed us graciously and helpfully. Unfortunately, the noise from the (excellent!) restaurant directly below was relentless and intrusive until nearly midnight; every chair movement on their floor was echoed in our room. Our second night was a Monday and the restaurant was closed: huge improvement. This B&B has three rooms, all of which open onto the small reception area, and so every sound outside the room is heard: conversations at the reception, others returning late, etc. Breakfast must be selected the previous night from a checklist of items, pretty blah stuff. Time of delivery is selected as well. Second night we received no checklist, and breakfast delivery came while we slept. When we got up an hour later the coffee was cold, and when I asked for fresh & hot, it was refused. Suggested parking is on the street behind the B&B, 74 steps up a cobblestone alley, which is fine when you're not carrying heavy luggage. The brother just stared vacantly as I, with my white hair, humped our stuff past his desk, out the door and up the steps - both times. Much to learn about the hospitality business.

La Dolce Vita
Friendly service, rooms furnished with character, but let down by long steep steps for access to hotel and no dedicated parking. Balcony overlooking busy road. Good quality breakfast brought to your room.

La Vita was Dolce at La Dolce Vita!
This was a huge surprise. An upscale B&B so well located on ortygia Island about a 15 minute walk from the central bus or train station. Once you're on the island you won't need to leave it unless you do the Greek temples, also about a half hour walk. The staff was great. The room was beautifully decorated and even had a mini-suite feel with a separate TV room/lounge area. I just loved this place.

Guests Beware
Stayed one night, charged for 2 nights! Room smells of body odor, had to cover my face so I could sleep. Entrance is at the back of the building, you have to either go up 30 steps or go down 80 steps from the back street.
