4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Kakamega

1. Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly time to visit Kakamega is during March, April, and August, when hotel prices are typically lower. To fully appreciate the region's key landmarks, cultural sites, and historical attractions, you should plan to stay for at least 3 to 4 days. Notable places to explore include the local university and other significant cultural heritage sites, offering great value for money while on a budget. With the potential for prices to drop during these months, visitors can enjoy an enriching experience without straining their finances.
2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To explore last-minute deals to Kakamega, visit the Deals or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted accommodation options near your travel dates. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications to stay informed about flash sales and exclusive promotions. Additionally, the Smart Shopping feature available in the app allows you to compare room rates and amenities, increasing your chances of finding the best hotel deals in Kenya. This way, if prices drop or new rooms become available, you'll be among the first to know, making it easier to plan your getaway.
3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate due to factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your stay in a Kakamega hotel. For those seeking a unique experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised touch and, at times, better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we’ll suggest more economical dates, which may help you secure a better deal.
4. Consider your location: Opting for accommodation near key attractions or city centres may provide convenience, but it often comes with a higher price tag. For more budget-friendly options, you might want to look at hotels situated in less central areas or neighbourhoods, striking a balance between cost and ease of access to your intended destinations. Additionally, independent hotels located a bit further out are usually more likely to be affordable and can offer a more authentic experience.
