Lovely relaxing atmosphere. It was sparkling and spacious. Medium rating for staff as we had no interaction. We received a text telling us the code for the front door and our room door. No hassle very simple and efficient. Our shower was not great. Very low water pressure. But I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great location, quiet, value for money and hotel bed/mattress was comfortable, however it was on a spant, as in the top of the bed was sloping backwards which i guess is due to the age of the place. Staff friendly, bed comfy, but slight little things like paint on curtains, low pressure shower and sloping bed, but for the money it is honestly spot on

Hotel not staffed, which I was aware of from previous reviews, but it didn’t cause me any issues as I got a text with door codes etc. my room faces the back of the hotel and was very quiet and also very large. The hotel feels like it would have been very fancy and decadent back in its day, but old fashioned decor but it’s part of the charm. Tea, coffee and biscuits in the room . Free car parking on site which is great for being in the town centre All and all fine for a one night stay

There were plenty of parking spaces available when we arrived after 5pm. Although we didn’t know how to enter the property, once we were in (via another guest) and saw the sign on Reception advising us to call the dedicated number. We then became aware that a Wattsapp message had been sent to my mobile phone advising us of the building entry code, our room number and the safe key code outside our room. The bedroom was on the top floor, accessible by steps and was unlocked on arrival but it was clean and tidy and reminiscent from the wallpaper and furniture of a traditional Victorian bedroom. We liked it a lot. The King size bed of our Comfort room was very good to sleep in and the bathroom had a bath which was appreciated also.

Everything was good except I had trouble getting through to the hotel staff since there's no one physically at the location. This became an issue when I realized I never received the door code. I tried to call the number but since I have an international number it wouldn't go through. I sent numerous messages through the online portal to no reply. Finally, I borrowed someone's phone and got the code. Overall, it was a good stay but the managers need to sort out their message board responses.

It is essential to have an email from the hotel, setting out the procedures for the code entry to the hotel, finding your room number and getting your room key. Instead of o reception there is a mobile number for any problems. We have stayed at the Lairgate before and this time we were very pleased with our recently refurbished room. The only problem was the absence of a bedside cabinet on one side of the bed. The bathroom was excellent. Towelsand bed linen were first class. No breakfasts. Went to Wetherspoons a few doors away. Dinner choice was one. A 7 course dinner at £50. We didn't try it. Very good , comfortable bar with Dan, a very pleasant barman. We really enjoyed our stay. Even with its limitations we will explain going again.
