Our experience at Silsbee's by Daniels House for our 7th wedding anniversary was disappointing, and we checked out a day early. Although the room was beautifully decorated, there was no place to sit other than the bed. This made it impossible for us to relax and have a glass of wine or play a game. There was a giant bathtub in the middle of the room, which was atmospheric but impractical. A table and chairs would have better served the space and its guests. My husband's shower was cut short because the hot water ran out. Filling a bathtub of that size seemed unlikely. Although there was a lovely patio outside where we could relax in the summer, it was inaccessible during winter or inclement weather, leaving us with nowhere else to go.
The next-door sister inn of Silsbee's does have space to sit, but it is only accessible to guests of Silsbee's during breakfast. We recommend that the owners open up that space to all guests, so there is a place to hang out and relax after a long day.
The only gourmet item we found during the continental breakfast was the tea, which was delicious. The website and reality did not align, possibly because it might have been gourmet at one time, but it was not the case during our visit. Nothing appeared to be home-baked except maybe the muffins. There were no croissants and instead of those, there was some very sad looking sliced bread and English muffins. The coffee was made using K-Cups from Kroger, and the bananas were overly ripe.
