The good things - room was big, a/c worked really well and it’s a few minutes walk to the canals and old town.
You’ll see from the photos it is incredibly dated, doesn’t feel like anything has changed for 40 years. But that’s clear so you either accept that or not. I chose to accept that because of the roof terrace. Turns out that’s closed, being worked on but the hotel don’t tell you that.
I chose a room at the back, I knew that wouldn’t have a view and that was ok for one night. But again the hotel don’t warn you there is work going on so there are men literally walking past your window and naturally making noise from 8am. And that sums up the worst of this place, the staff treat you like you’re an inconvenience. Customer service is non existence. I’d seen it on other reviews but assumed maybe a one off, maybe people don’t try and speak Portuguese. But it’s so odd, no matter what you do you can’t even get a smile let alone a hello. Never experienced anything like that.
