A open letter to the Hilton Fiji Management and Cluster Management teams:
A Disappointing Decline
The Hilton Fiji has been a familiar annual holiday destination for us over the past three years. However, with each visit, we've noticed a concerning deterioration in the property's condition and overall guest experience.
From a property perspective, while we understand that all properties have a lifecycle, the visible damage and lack of regular maintenance are becoming increasingly apparent. Issues such as damaged tiles, malfunctioning doors and windows, mouldy tiles, and worn cabinetry are clear indicators of a property in need of refurbishment (and significant CapEx resource). These issues aren't isolated to our most recent room as they've been common across different rooms during all three stays.
Three years ago, the Hilton Fiji's charm lay in its friendly and energetic staff. It was this alone that was the contributing factor in us returning. Unfortunately, this welcoming atmosphere seems to have faded over time. The decline in overall staff energy and engagement is a significant disappointment, as it was the major factor in both our return visits.
Given the competitive landscape in Denarau, Hilton Fiji risks falling behind if it doesn't address these issues promptly. With so many other excellent options available, it's unlikely that we'll be returning, and we can't in good conscience recommend the property to our friends, family, or colleagues.
