Wonderful Florence Hotel
Our visit to Florence was wonderful mostly due to this great hotel. The room we had was a large enough to accommodate an extra bed since there was three of us; much better then a pull out couch. The bathroom was large with a shower that had great pressure and plenty of hot water; it even had a towel warming rack - so amazing! Our room had a view of the piazza so every morning we would be able to look out and see the mountains brighten up as the sun rose. In the evening the sunset sky and birds flying to their nests made a magical sight. The rooftop terrace had an amazing view. We were able to bring up a bottle of wine at sunset and had a private celebration since it was my birthday. The location was perfect as well since most of the bus tours we booked started at the train station which was a 5 minute walk away. It is also very close to most of the museums and attractions. I visited Florence since my daughter is doing a study abroad program there. When any other parents go to visit I will certainly tell them to stay at the Hotel Santa Maria Novella to make their visit amazing.

Great hotel and location
I highly recommend this hotel The rooms were very nice: Clean, comfortable & updated. We reserved a room with 2 twin beds (“Superior Room, View”). The beds were right next to each other, which isn’t my preference, but it was fine. The room wasn’t large, but it wasn’t cramped at all. The bathroom was on the small side, but included a good-sized shower stall. There wasn’t a great deal of counter space in the bathroom, but 2 women made it work for 4 nights. Our room had a lovely view of the Piazza. If you’re sensitive to noise, be aware the piazza can be lively late into the night. If you close the windows, the noise is greatly muted. Do not to miss the rooftop terrace, regardless of the weather—it has a great view of the city! The staff were all friendly & helpful. The breakfast options were plentiful & delicious: Eggs, meats, cheeses, pastries, yogurt, granola, salad, fresh fruit, etc. The breakfast room is beautiful, and there are plenty of servers around to assist. The location of the hotel is great. It’s a short walk from the train station and near the Duomo and all major sites. We stayed in 3 hotels in Italy on this trip. All 3 were rated 4 stars on Hotels.com, but this is the only one that I would truly consider 4 star.

Very good 8.0
The hotel is good. We had a great room. It is so appreciated. We stayed 3 nights and the only thing I felt unconfortable is the breakfast. The food is okay but the staffs are so busy on cleaning the table, buffet tableware, even the bread cutting board keeps no breadcrumbs! However, it is difficult to ask for coffee or tea. Only the second day, we were asked what to drink when seating. The other two days, no one cares and we need to find someone who looks okay(most of the staffs just appear so busy and show on their faces that don't talk to me!) to ask for the first coffee. And once we finally got someone come, my sisiter asked for a coffee, and the lady automatically thought we(my mother and I) are all asking for coffee and just went away immediately without asking what we wanted. It really surprised us and we are tired of that kind of attitude through 3 days of staying. It is quite a pity.

Highly recommended hotel
Fantastic hotel right on Santa Maria Novella Square so it's so easy to walk to all the museums and places of interest. It's spotlessly clean, really comfortable bed with a super bathroom. Breakfast was in a very pretty mirrored room and consisted of everything that's usual in a continental buffet breakfast but they also had prosecco! The food was replenished quickly, the waitresses were very friendly and willing to help and we ate a very healthy meal each day of our three day stay! We had an issue with our return flight as Florence air controllers went on strike so our flight was re-routed to leave from Pisa. The concierge was so helpful in contacting BA to try to discover what the problem was and genuinely wanted to resolve the issue (which took over half an hour!). He just kept ringing more numbers until he eventually got through to someone - thank you we really appreciated this! Highly recommended hotel in a great location

Very good 8.0
Nice hotel but loud outdoor area
Overall, a nice hotel. The breakfast was really good and the staff in the breakfast room were fabulous. Our room was very small and the bed was quite hard, but it was a pretty room and very clean. There's also a bar downstairs and a rooftop deck to hang out on. Not the hotel's fault , but there are several restaurants etc. located in the piazza where it is located and it is extremely difficult to sleep due to the outside noise level. It seems many people don't sleep in Florence because the noise went on most of the night! Also, we purchased museum tickets through the hotel, which typically I find you get a discount or special pricing, and we were charged an upcharge of $10 per person for their services. That was upsetting to me and not what I would have expected from a nice hotel.
