My favorite place to stay in San Diego. It's right in the heart of Pacific Beach, restaurants within walking distance and other attractions, such as Belmont Park, are a short drive away. And by far, the access to the bay is my favorite aspect of this hotel. I will spend many, many hours during my vacation on the beach here. I have been going to the Catamaran since I was a child and I will be coming back for years to come.

The Catamaran is the perfect location for families or couples looking to getaway. The lobby feels like you are in Hawaii and the bay is beautiful. We rented a Hobie Cat sailboat (right from the property) one afternoon and sailed the bay. We were able to park the car and walk to tons of restaurants for dinners etc. It was an excellent staycation for us!

This is a great resort, with great staff running it. I am being totally honest here. As much as we loved our stay, and we will definitely return, the rooms, corridors, lifts, etc are extremely dated. The owners need to invest some money in this place. In my opinion it is expensive for what you get, due to it needing a refurb. But the staff, in all roles were excellent. No rush for sun loungers at pool in the mornings.

The only good thing about the hotel is its location and the view from the hotel room balcony. The room was very dated and out of date, not what I would expect of a 4* hotel. Our room had excellent proximity to the bay and the long walking path around it, great for walks with morning coffee. The hotel is close to the ocean, restaurants, etc, but away from the noise. The pool area was clean, shaded, and offered drink/snack service. We really enjoyed using the free bayside shaded chairs in the grass, although they seemed a bit old & uncomfortable. The exotic birds on site were fun! We even enjoyed listening to the hotel luau from our room - couldn’t see the stage due to a large tree, but enjoyed the music! Overall a great place we’d love to visit again.
