Pros: location, close but not too close to the busier parts of town. Nice, clean, big rooms. Most staff were super friendly and helpful. Price. Cons: Breakfast in the restaurant adequate at best (the place across the street, on the other hand, was great). Staff were not empowered to handle bad situations. Our first two night (out of 4) had a group of teens (probably 75) that were raucous and obnoxious until 12:30am both nights (including banging on our door, then running off). We spoke to the staff at least 4 times, asking them to deal with the situation. We were told that the teens would be going to bed at 10:30. We were told that they spoke to the leaders. Neither happened. We tried to speak to the manager, but was told she didn’t come in until the next morning, and then the next morning she was “out for personal reasons”. That evening she was in, and when we spoke the response was effectively “Yeah, sorry, they booked a year ago and there was nothing my staff could do.” Then when we asked for a refund of just one night, she replied that was not likely and could only offer an upgraded breakfast. Given our breakfast experiences, we opted against that (see above). We finally pushed for an upgraded room, which she was able to do...and our upgraded room only differed from our previous room because it had a king bed instead of two double beds, and it had a small, walled in patio. Given our only options (breakfast or new room), we acquiesced and took the room.

Lovely, quiet spot in Oaxaca's historic district
I had just come from surgery and chose this hotel because it had a restaurant/bar and air conditioning...and the lobby was well-appointed and clean. I found that the restaurant did not operate except for breakfast, which was a big disappointment, but nevertheless I'm glad to have chosen this place. The staff was, without exception, efficient and attentive, the restaurant was attractive and well-run and the breakfast (which was included) unexciting but substantial. The room was quiet, pleasant, very clean, the beds comfortable, the TV incomprehensible to me but had lots of channels, the WIFI worked well and the space felt quite roomy. In all I was happy, especially as the cost through Orbitz was quite low. My only complaint and that was expressed by other customers, was the shower water temperature which was wildly irregular. The location on a busy street absolutely near to all Central Oaxaca destinations, was very good.

Charming hotel with an excellent restaurant
We enjoyed our 5-night stay at Parador Del Dominico. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is in a central location within walking distance of the heart of the city. It IS located on a very busy street so you will experience traffic noise during the day. We love the style of this hotel but the rooms are small. Their restaurant "El Pipe" is gourmet. The chef Mario Ramirez offers a very creative menu. We enjoyed the comida corrida 3 afternoons. Portions are small but full of rich flavors. They have a comal in the dining area and serve handmade tortillas of various Oaxacan corn varieties. Mario uses organic chicken and organic eggs in his dishes. We enjoyed breakfast here every morning and his staff complements his wonderful menu with excellent service. We think this hotel is a good value and look forward to returning.

Overcharged for what you get
The hotel complex is wonderful with the little garden on the ground floor with tables and chairs to have a rest, it is also allowed to smoke. The room is big and clean with comfy beds. Unfortunately you can here everything through the window and through the door, both has bad quality for such a hotel like this. Also the situation for the breakfast were not well regulated, the first morning we had to wait a long time until we could take a sit. The room were you eat breakfast is seemingly to small for all the hotelguest. The waiters also needs to long to clean the tables and to serve. All in one it would be a nice hotel if they change some things then they can charge this price.

Exceptional 10.0
This hotel was clean with very kind and helpful staff. The front desk did have people who spoke English which helped with our check in. The restaurant had good, flavorful food. I loved being able to have fresh papaya each morning. The coffee was delicious and readily available. Our room was clean and everything was in working order. My only complaint would be the bed was really firm and I normally sleep on a softer bed at home so it took a day to adjust. The water pressure was good, which I have heard is not always the case in this part of Mexico. We were provided bottled water each day and they had filling stations throughout the property. Should I return to Oaxaca, I will definitely return here!
