This is an excellent hotel where I have stayed many times. It is slightly old-fashioned, but all the more charming for that.

Tired property - OK at most.
Tired property in a nice town.
Room's are very basic; only economy rooms were offered thru Hotels.com, which meant no en-suite!! Check if booking this way.
Self-serve breakfast OK at €8 - not much choice though.
It's OK for one night if travelling this way... but it ain't great.

I don't blame the hotel, because it does not make any claims to be other than very basic.
However I don't think I will use Hotels.com again because the hotel gave me a (clean) room with a bathroom across the hall. The place was locked up when I arrived (20.30hrs)
There was nowhere to get a drink or a meal in the place and I did not feel like getting ready to go out. No T.V. or really any frills whatsoever. I am a seasoned traveller and this level of accommodation is very rare these days, I think these things should have been
made clear on the website.
If you just want absolute budget level service and that is what you want, it's what you get here.
Just a tip - you can save 10 euros by booking direct with the hotel.

The Marie Celeste Hotel.
This was the first hotel that we have ever stayed in where there is literally not a single staff member in the hotel overnight. Check-in is meant to be from 1.00 pm but when we arrived at 5.00 pm the hotel was deserted. We sat in a pub in the square until 6.30 pm by which time a member of staff had driven up. We had magret de canard for dinner but the fat was raw having not been rendered. The same female staff member was the receptionist, the cleaner, the barmaid and the chef. On our second day's breakfast the only bread provided was sliced from the supermarket, a first in our experience. That being said, if all you want is a comfortable bed and save money to spend on dinner elsewhere then go for it!

This is a great value for money stop over in Normandy. Yes it is a shared bathroom / toilet like other reviews mention, which we knew when we booked, but there's not enough rooms for that to be a problem. Everything was clean and cosy. Couldn't ask for anything more for £30ish a night! Vimoutiers itself is a great stop with Museé du Camembert is just round the corner, and everythtyou could need. Definitely recommend!
