Sadly this hotel was nothing like the photos and nowhere near a 4* hotel.
Positives first:
* comfy bed
* dinner was good, served by a lovely, friendly, efficient girl (the only member of staff on duty it seemed, as she was covering reception as well)
However, there is an air of complete disinterest to the needs of guests, and lack of pride in the hotel. Many amenities advertised were not present (no shower- only a bath, no minibar, no aircon (fan instead) rationed coffee pods. Musty smelling room with stained carpet. The gardens could be beautiful but the lawns were unmown, with weeds growing up through the gravel, dead flowers in pots and a full ashtray left full of water on the bridge. The outside tables were dusty, and the rooms in a separate outbuilding, which had their own terraces, were full of weeds taking over-you certainly wouldn’t sit out there. Windows were filthy, with giant spiders webs on the top floor.
Breakfast was dreadful, with old scrambled egg and flaccid hash browns, served by a grumpy waitress, who looked like she didn’t want to be there.
Such a shame, because many issues could be sorted out in a week if the owners looked at their surroundings and saw the issues in front of them.
