Very luxurious property as you would expect, but there are a number of things that let this down:
- one night the main entertainment venue and late bar were closed for a “private event” which turned out to be an awards ceremony for the hotel management. Pretty poor that nothing else is put on in place for paying guests…
- similarly restaurants and bars were closed at short notice (on the day) and reservations moved owing to “special events”.
- a problem with our initial room and a request to move was met with a “we’re fully booked” which was plainly not the case given the parity of guests and the fact that a room was found after challenging this. This meant that we were effectively left without luggage or a room for 4hrs… only to be told when we’re given our luggage that a dinner reservation had been made for us in 30mins time.
- the marketing of the hotel gives the impression this hotel has a very relaxed vibe, and whilst this seems to be the approach of many staff (eg waiting 15mins for a drink in a nearly empty bar) this doesn’t seem to apply to guests - eg being reminded 3 times to check out at 12 (two messages and a phone call in the hour preceding this) only to have to wait 20mins for luggage to be collected… and being told “not to be late” for meal reservations.
- information in the hotel is sparse and ad hoc - sometimes we were told about activities for the day at 11, 3 hrs after they had started, and sometimes not at all.
Better options are available for the money!
