What a place! Clearly one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had. Just exploring the castle was an experience in itself, and our room (Aurelia d’Este) was fabulous. One of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in and the sheets were exquisite. The hotel is off the beaten track and we had a little trouble navigating there by car (but we’re old), and the driveway up the hill to the castle is narrow and intimidating. But boy is it worth it. Dinner was fine but nothing special. Great breakfast with omelets cooked to order. Highly recommended.

The rooms are amazing. The beauty of the castle and it's surroundings is spectacular. However, the parking is sketchy at best and nobody offered to help with our bags and it's quite the walk up the hill with two or three bags. My mother actually fell leaving the property Sunday. The wet cobblestones are slick and dangerous. They have a golf cart that could shuttle guests and their bags easily

Typical of what I expected staying at a castle, but there were lots of cups and glasses etc left in different areas of the caste from past parties or gatherings that you saw as thou walked around touring the castle. Room was clean though.

Staying in a real medieval castle was an amazing experience. The location was unique, the property itself was well maintained and absolutely beautiful. The staff was very attentive and the chef and food quality was outstanding. The fine dining was Michelin level and just fantastic in every way. Make sure you definitely try the croissants in the AM at breakfast. Our stay in Italy was amazing but this made our stay extra special.

Weekend stay
A short stay in January. Out of season and lots of the castle was packed away. Still able to explore and the suite was enormous and comfortable. No spa services as advertised and told these were only for the deluxe royal suite. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant deserves a special mention as we weren't expecting the gourmet level that we got. Highly recommended.

The environment was incredible. Takes you back to ancient times. However it is not updated as to preserve its antiquity so don’t expect modern working amenities. It’s a timeless experience to step back in time and relish the days of old

Beautiful location and property, but more intended for wedding visitors than general travelers. Communication mostly in Italian, so it was hard for us to find information about meals, surroundings, or other logistics. Wifi was not working 90% of the time. The man at the front desk was very nice.

Stunning castle in a very traditional village.
Would highly recommend this hotel top location for a very special wedding venue but for holiday makers they do need a residential section were you don’t feel in the way or any part of the wedding! If looking for a quite retreat, make it when there’s no weddings! The restaurant food is beautiful, freshly cooked, good menu. The staff are friendly, hard working to say they work long days, hotel owner even made the effort and have a conversation with us,made us feel very welcome.

Beautiful Castle! Amazing views. Staff were accommodating, my son was sick and they made soup for him and brought to the room, which is not something they ordinarily do, very nice. I did not get the room I booked and paid for, when I mentioned this they said the room I booked was in use and this happens:/ The room we stayed in was large and nice with hard bed, would have preferred the room I booked. This seams like first priority is weddings and second hotel guests. There was a wedding reception taking place on the evening we stayed, very loud. Reception with dj and live music went on until 2:00AM, right outside our window. No one available at desk to ask to be moved.
