I chose this hotel for our group due to its high star rating, location, and “luxury hotel” description. Despite wanting to like it, the hotel repeatedly disappointed us. The location was great for the Ironman race and close to the Old City’s restaurants and plazas.
However, the hotel lacks a proper front desk and lobby, with a small table for check-in/out in a cramped nook. Our group of 5 couldn’t stand together anytime, and our bags blocked the stairs, inconveniencing other guests. The hallway had broken mirrors, adding to the sad vibe. There was no luggage assistance, which is unexpected for a high-end hotel.
The rooms were small and functional, typical of a European economy hotel, and not worth more than 200 EUR.
If you stay here, buy breakfast with your room, as it costs 19 EUR per person otherwise, which is overpriced for a basic continental breakfast. The breakfast staff was friendly, though.
We also had issues with the airport pickup service. Despite confirming via email, no driver was there when we arrived. We had to find our own way, causing a delay and inconvenience. The hotel offered no apology or compensation for this, which is unacceptable.
Given the other hotels in town that are closer to the Old City, the beach, and often less expensive, it’s hard to justify staying here. The lack of a lobby, overpriced breakfast, and poor service make it a no-go for us.
