Great location, good hotel, rooms are a bit dated, but most things in Cuba are. They did charge $5 for a bottle of water which is far too excessive.

Poor value overall
I traveled with a friend, we paid the exact same price for 4 nights at the hotel Sevilla. I got room 512 and he got room 819. My room was half size his room ! I wonder if they give some customers single room for the price of a double room. Curtains could not move so I woke up with daylight, there was a lezard in the bathroom shower head older who escaped the first time I used the shower. There was a pile of dust under the bed and the floor looked dirty. The staff seems always in a bad mood, I don't recall a single staff member who was nice with me during my stay. Smiling is not part of their job.

Loved the pool area including the snack bar. Loved the lobby! Our room was great except the air conditioning was not cold enough and there was no curtain for the bathroom window. Staff was all great and tha location wonderful! Beautiful old hotel in the heart of Old Havana. Love your Country, love Your people!!!

4/10 Fair

During our first visit to Havana, we knew hotel options were limited and as seasoned travelers, we were okay with some of the reviews. We made a mistake... do not stay at the Sevilla. Issues: 1. The stay is incredibly rude. One person was friendly and helped us make a reservation, the others all refused to make a simple phone call for us. The bartender would not take money that we just received from the front desk because it has a small tear (the money the hotel just gave us!). 2. I've never seen a hotel room so dirty. The room was full of dust and clear never swept or vacuumed. When we arrived with our 1 year old, he was crawling around and found a q-tip and a pill on the floor (in addition to all the dust and hair everywhere). We had to wear our shoes in the room because our socks were disgusting after 1 hour. 3. The money exchange rate is horrible. 4. The hotel does not help you with taxis and the ones at the front door rip you off. 10-12 CUC for very short rides when all other taxis would be ~5. 5. The staff is lazy - it always feels as though you have to interrupt the staff to ask for anything (directions, money exchange, towels at the pool, etc) and they seem to be upset that you interrupted them even though it's their job. No one was welcoming. Things we liked: The fact that the hotel has a pool (albeit not a great one) and the 9th floor for the sunset is beautiful and the breakfast included had an egg/omelette station.

Historic, beautiful, but sad and dirty.
This has the potential to be a great and beautiful hotel. It has a pretty lobby, and it's a historic building. But get up close and personal and it is filled with disappointments. The room was very dirty, my coat touched the floor when we first walked in, and it was covered with white dust and lots of hair. Our sink did not drain, and our toilet was uncleaned (remnants of the last guest were still in there). Our two twin beds seemed to be from the 1950's, and only one was actually sleep-able. The whole building smells like mildew and moisture, and smelled like urine near elevators. The hallway roof leaks during rain, and I mean really leaks, like large puddles on the tile floor. It was sad, like most of Havana's buildings. However, for the price we paid it was just a bad deal. There are several luxury hotels in town that were far better and with much better service.

4/10 Fair

The hotel room was clean and had a nice view, and the exterior and lobby is very beautiful. But for $125 a night, the room I got only had hot water on 2 out of the 6 days that I showered there, the tub was extremely rusted and the bath wall had visible spots of mould. The (not free) wifi was down or so slow that it was unusable for the majority of my stay, and the staff couldn’t seem to fix it. The female staff members were all very kind and friendly, and the male staff members were surprisingly rude and seemed to not know they are in the hospitality industry. The exchange rate for Canadian dollars to CUCs in the lobby was also the worst that I found in the country. My friend who paid about $15 a night to stay in a casa particular down the street had hot water and a bathroom that was not rusty and mouldy, and very friendly hosts. I do not recommend Hotel Sevilla at all.

Old but classy hotel in a good location
It's a very classic and nice hotel. The property is a bit dated, but at least the lobby and my room was well maintained. The staff, with their towel art and hand-written cards, made it clear that they care.
