I love love LOVED our stay. I have been telling everyone about. The service was wonderful. The staff were amazing. Of all the accommodation we stayed in during our trip, this place had the most authentic and special vibe to it. From greeting us at arrival, to the moment of check out, I was impressed with every aspect of the stay: the traditional room, the beautiful garden and waterfall, the onsens, the meals and especially, the lovely service. Do yourself a favour, and stay here.

Lovely property, secluded but good shuttle options to ski field (less than 5 mins) and twice daily to Karuizawa. Staff were friendly - used Google translate as there were not many western travellers. Amazing Onsens - all gender seperate apart from private but open 24 hours. Food was great - and a shop for snacks, souvenirs and drinks. Great for winding down and experiencing the snow and small field close by.

We had a lovely family stay at this ryokan in Shibu Onsen. Our room was river-view, with a beautiful sitting area. It was also a half-board rate, which meant we got to enjoy traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner each day. The public bath I used was lovely, especially the outdoor area.
