Rihga Gran Kyoto
10/10 Excellent
"We only stayed one night, but hotel was perfect for us. Hotel is located close to Kyoto Station making it convenient. Room was smaller with our requested 3 twin beds, but very doable. We opted out on their breakfast"
"The place had excellent location and convenience to dining, shopping and train station access.
I do find that a bigger and more comfortable rooms was not an option when I booked this stay from 6 months ago, is it because that’s what is available for Expedia customers?"
"The room was super clean and the staff were so helpful with any questions we had in the area. There are shops around this location and nishiki market is super close. There are buses that run constantly in front of the hotel as well as subways 5-10 minutes walking distance. It was a wonderful experience!"
"This hotel is super cute and in a great area and close to a lot! We loved the roof top bar and the bakery was amazing as well! Rooms and hotel super cute and very clean. Staff were all amazing and so welcoming!"
"Pros:
- The rooms were spacious compared to most Japanese hotel rooms. It was nice to have a more traditional tatami style room.
- The breakfast buffet had an incredible selection to choose from. There’s a bit of a wait depending on when you go, but it goes rather quickly.
- Late night unlimited ramen from 9pm-11pm was also a nice touch. We loved being able to eat a light meal after a long day of exploring.
- Onsen access is really nice, with massage chairs available for use. And unlimited ice cream every night was also really delicious.
Cons:
- Having guests take off their shoes at the lobby makes the place smell like feet. It’s pretty gross since it was raining when we were there so it was a mix of wet socks and feet stench. They should at least require that people wear hotel rooms slippers.
- The onsen was really dirty from the amount of people that would use the facilities. It was overcrowded and packed during the night time.
Overall, I’d stay at this hotel again, but refrain from using public facilities. It’s almost impossible to keep the public areas clean and free of smells since there are so many guests."
"We had a great stay at this hotel. Everything was clean, the staff were thoughtful and helpful and our needs were met. I want to share that the hotel smells great! I saw some recent reviews that there was a bad odor coming from the hotel. If this was a recent problem, it's been addressed. As of mid-October, everything looked new and smelled great."
